We’re looking forward to introducing you to DR. A’CIRE NEWBY. Check out our conversation below.
Hi A’CIRE, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think others are secretly struggling with—but never say?
I think that in this time period in our country, a lot of individuals are struggling with their mental well-being. It is also something that I struggled with in silence. I was ashamed to tell anyone due to fear of their judgment. The fear wasn’t because I was depressed, but the issue that caused the depression. Like other individuals who suffer from depression, we put on a mask that all is well, yet we are crying inside.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Dr. A’Cire Newby AKA “The Real A’Cire” is an Actress, Consultant to content creators, Director, and Producer. Beyond coaching content creators and independent filmmakers on vision and strategy, she’s building a powerful portfolio in storytelling. Currently, A Wu-Tang Experience: Live At Red Rocks Amphitheatre is airing nationwide on PBS and in theatres across Paris. She also serves as Producer of the Killa Hill Docuseries (streaming on Tubi, YouTube TV, and Apple TV), an unflinching look into New York’s Staten Island housing projects called Park Hill. The docuseries backdrop is Park Hill’s history during the crack epidemic, told by Wu-Tang Clan legends Method Man, Raekwon, and Cappadonna alongside community voices. Her influence also extends to radio history, with a feature in the first-of-its-kind black radio Encyclopedia, “The History of Black Radio,”—a book curated by the National Black Radio Hall of Fame, available on Amazon. Next up, she’s stepping into the talk show space with Emerging Beyond with A’Cire, highlighting stories of resilience and triumph. Emerging Beyond with A’Cire aired pre-COVID on Georgia television station Comcast Dekalb 25.. Her partnership with Producer Kswab Stevenson will bring the show back to mainstream media in early 2026.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I used to believe that my future would be living in Newport News, VA, as a married woman working in the shipyard. I’m laughing because I am grateful that there was a greater plan for me than that. My aunt Mattie Cherry is my biggest cheerleader. She often encouraged me as a young girl by praising how smart she thought I was. She attended school events and even gave me advice on life’s challenges. In my eyes, she was and still is my “shero”. She is the reason I am the woman I am today. However, with the good I just shared, there has been some deep-rooted childhood trauma in my life as well. Looking back at my childhood, my “Shero” was with me all along to comfort me and help me overcome the trauma. My purpose has come out of my childhood pain. The pain has served its purpose. What Purpose do you ask? Using the various platforms that I am a part of to inspire other individuals to release past pain and use it as a catalyst to find their purpose.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
As a child, when I was scared, I would write in my journal. It’s one of the attributes that was born out of my pain. I am the author of several books. My most recent book is a fictitious, thought-provoking mystery titled “Camouflaged Life,” available on Amazon. As a child, when I wrote in my secret journal, it would help me feel less scared. I could put my worries on paper instead of keeping them all in my head. It made the scary stuff seem smaller and easier to understand. Even today, journaling helps me calm down, figure out what I’m feeling, and sometimes even see how to handle it better. It’s like talking to myself in a safe way that makes me feel stronger. As a Transformational Life Coach, I always recommend my clients get into the habit of journaling.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie that the entertainment industry tells itself is that one will always be famous, rich, in demand, and happy. It lures those aspiring for fame to be willing to do anything to be a part of what they see in the media. The truth is, there will be times when there is a high demand for work, there are times when work will be slow, there are going to be moments when the public loves you, and others when they spew hateful comments on your social media. That’s why it’s important to be in this, not for the money or fame, but for a bigger purpose.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
“I will always remember the day that Gerald Barclay called me and asked if I would be the Production Manager for A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. I said without hesitation, ‘Hell Yeah!’ Those guys are legends worldwide, and I knew that this project would be nothing less than extraordinary. I was correct!” That project, A Wu-Tang Experience: Live at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The documentary went on to win Best Diaspora Documentary at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and is now being shown all around the world.
We filmed on August 13, 2021, the Wu-Tang Clan, backed by the 60-piece Colorado Symphony Orchestra, performing at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Roughly 10,000 fans witnessed what many are calling one of the most extraordinary concerts in hip-hop history, merging the raw energy of Wu-Tang with orchestral arrangements and cinematic staging. It has been nothing short of fascinating seeing my name in the opening and closing credits of an award-winning film that is currently being aired on PBS and in theatres all over Paris! I’m still in la-la land!
