Today we’d like to introduce you to Lachauna Edwards.
Hi Lachauna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a multi-hyphenate creative. I am an Attorney/Business owner/Content Creator/Wife (of 9 years)/Mother (twin daughters and an 8yo son)/Speaker and Marriage Coach!
I have always loved the arts. I was that kid who loved to dance and draw and write poetry. But I was also the kid who dreamed of being a lawyer as well – which is what I ultimately chose to pursue as a career.
For almost a decade now, I’ve been practicing civil rights/education law and found great fulfillment in this role– fighting for justice and making a difference. But somewhere along the way, I lost my love for the arts. I got busy with work and family and forgot the Creative inside of me.
But then, in 2020 (like everyone else) I finally had the space and time to pursue those lost things that brought me joy. I began to create content on Instagram because I wanted to encourage my community to have healthy marriages and families while pursuing personal goals. And it was then that I began to rebirth my love for the arts.
I fell in love with everything about creating content — editing photos, thought-provoking captions, relatable and creative shot-form videos. It was like unearthing the little girl in me.
Then sometime in late 2021, I began to realize my day job wasn’t bringing me much joy anymore. I began to search for a way to bridge the connection between law and creativity and from there, launched my own Business and Entertainment law firm (Lachauna Edwards Law) to help other creative entrepreneurs, entertainers, and athletes launch their business, protect their brands, and build their legacy through trademarks, copyrights, contracts, etc…
I still create inspiring and educational content about family and marriage. In fact, I am starting a marriage coaching membership on Instagram subscriptions starting October 5th. However, I also bridge in legal information to help creatives and entertainers leave an impact on this world, in and outside of their home! It has been amazing to see all of this unfold and I’m just getting started, but I am so much happier now, utilizing all of my gifts!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
While it has been fulfilling to pursue my love for the arts again, it has not been a smooth road. Juggling a family, creating content, starting a business, and still working my day job can be really tough.
For example, finding time to be creative when I’m so exhausted from work and taking care of my kids is difficult. But I consider myself a Proverbs 31 woman — I’m capable of wearing many hats and doing them all well, so long as God has graced me to do so.
My goal is to become a full-time entrepreneur soon, so I find ways to delegate, hire help, and manage my time so that I can continue to elevate my skills and services. In particular, at the time of this interview, I am working on perfecting my expertise with NIL deals (name, image, likeness) for athletes.
Ultimately my goal is to live a full life with a thriving business and a successful family at the same time– and I hope to inspire others to do the same.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the founder of two businesses- my business and entertainment law firm (Lachauna Edwards Law, LLC) and also my marriage/relationship coaching agency (Mrs. Mommy Esquire, LLC).
I specialize in business and intellectual property law and what sets me apart from other attorneys is that I have a unique perspective having worked as a federal attorney for almost a decade. Additionally, as the mother of an athlete, I am excited to embark on perfecting my expertise in the area of NIL (name, image, likeness) deals for athletes.
Also, starting on October 5, 2022 I will be launching a membership program right on Instagram subscriptions providing ongoing marital support, resources, and encouragement for my community.
I truly care about my clients and their families. I want to help them leave a legacy not just in their work but also in their home. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m able to help people achieve their dreams both professionally and personally. I want people to know that when they work with me, they’re working with someone who is truly passionate about helping them reach their overall goals in life.
How do you think about luck?
Luck is not something that I believe in. I believe in the divine power of God, but faith without WORK is dead. I have put in a lot of work to achieve all that I have in life, from a happy marriage to my work as a lawyer and mother. This has not always been easy, but it has been worth it.
I know that when things don’t work out as I have hoped, there is something greater God has instead and when things DO work out, I know that God orchestrated the events to allow me to have the opportunities that come my way.
I believe that if I keep working hard and putting my trust in God, he will continue to bless me with even more. This is why I am so motivated to encourage others to do the same–to have faith and WORK for what they want most in life, professionally and personally.
