Emily Ward of Columbus, Ga on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emily Ward. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Emily , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Coffee, food and school. Getting the kids ready to start the day off right in the morning is about all that 90 minutes can take.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey Ya’ll,
Im Emily, with Emily E Photography.
I really just love what i do, and i can’t say i have a specific brand to what i specify in.
I love weddings and births, but love family sessions on the weekends, and helping people rebrand their business when they don’t know what direction to take it.
Pictures come in handy in so many areas of life that i don’t think people realize.
and with that in mind, I think one of my favorite things to do is take headshots during senior sessions.
I love the thought of letting a kid prep for the future knowing that they have them whenever they’re ready for college or the workforce.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Definitely my husband, He has helped me work through so many things in my life, from confidence in who i am and what i do, to understanding how to move forward. He’s definitely my biggest cheerleading, while also knowing better than anyone how to ground me.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Oh wow. that’s not tricky, i’ve thought about this a lot.

“it’s gonna be great”

From getting out of certain situations, to meeting my husband, fully understanding my faith and having four beautiful children, I’d hope she’d understand just from those few words, but what else can you say to a kid; i guess unless i knew exactly which “me” i was talking to.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes.
I have tried to be the cool, calm and collected type and thats just not me.
I’m a big weirdo, and i’m genuinely ok with that, the more the years pass on.
it was definitely something i had to work through as a teen, as i’m sure most did, so i can honestly say it takes work understanding that.
i have an incredible husband, awesome kids and
wonderful friends, if they can take it, so can i.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
This ones hard, because anything i answer here, i should probably just start now.
But if we switched it up to say that, i would answer with – doubting Gods plan for my life – it’s human nature, but it doesn’t mean it’s any less relevant.
