Exploring Life & Business with Christopher Jones of Drone Jones Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Jones.

Hi Christopher, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My Name is Christopher M Jones and I am the Founder / Owner of Drone Jones Media.

As the son of a photographer, I got into the business at an early age being an assistant to my father who did a lot of weddings and on-location photography.

As I grew older, I went into sales management working at Best Buy and Verizon in leadership positions.

At Best Buy I was a DSLR trainer for the Georgia market helping to train department staff.

It was at Verizon where my entrepreneurial fire was lit.

One passion of mine is cooking, I love to cook good healthy food. I started a meal prep company and a good amount of my clients were Verizon employees from stores all across Atlanta.

Another passion I had was flying Drones I would fly for a hobby and demo every chance I the views from an aerial perspective! I would fly them in the store carefully navigating co workers and customers.  My passion showing what was possible lead to many sales on drones quickly earning me the nickname from my peers “DRONE JONES” .

Through these customer interactions, one day a real estate agent offered to pay me to come out and photograph his property with a drone.

When I saw how much I could make doing what I truly love, I began studying the drone real estate market getting licensed eventually forming the early stages of DRONE JONES MEDIA.

I was a part of a group that would meet up weekly filming around the city perfecting our craft piloting drones and imagery.

I’ve always been drawn to the commercial space creating short form content to get an emotional response!

Early on I had two crashes that set me back. I lost one to vehicular theft and another due to a system failure.

I wasn’t able to purchase another drone immediately so I started taking on other gigs whether it be photography or editing. This allowed me to learn and pick up other skills. I started working on productions with other firms and students from local schools.

I quit my job in 2018 and went full-time with DRONE JONES MEDIA taking on any freelance job that came my way! The money was driving me then. I quickly became burnt out and couldn’t figure out why. I took some time off and tried to come back to doing what I started which was real estate. That helped for a while but then I felt like I was just going job to job.

I’ve always strived to maintain relationships with friend’s coworkers and customers turned friends over the years building a solid network of support. This led to many opportunities and experiences that I am truly grateful for!
This had lead to partnerships with brands in the USA as well as internationally!
