Exploring Life & Business with Diego Pérez of True Motion Sports Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Pérez.

Hi Diego, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Puerto Rico, I got to Georgia via a volleyball scholarship to play and study at Life University. Originally, chiropractic was not in my plans. Since very little I’ve always been involved in sports and being active, so I knew the career I would pursue had to keep me close to that lifestyle. I began my undergraduate journey as a student athlete completing a concentration in Exercises Science. As an athlete at the school I was fortunate enough to receive chiropractic care as part of our health care for our injuries, injury prevention, and performance. In the beginning I was hesitant to receive their care because I did not know the value of it or how it could benefit me when I was or wasn’t injured. It wasn’t until I injured my low back for the second time that I decided to give chiropractic a chance, I was in disbelief to how quicker I recovered compared to my first injury where I almost couldn’t even sit or walk due to the pain, literally bed ridden for a few day because just the simple action of trying to stand up caused debilitating pain. From that moment on I started to be more consistent with the care I received going weekly and I started to see how my movement and performance felt better when I practiced and competed. After I graduated from my undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, I stayed at LIfe University to pursue a Doctorate degree in Chiropractic and a Masters in Sports Health Science. In June of 2025 I graduated from both my Doctorate and Master’s. In September of 2025 I opened True Motion Sports Chiropractic, an office dedicated to improving the quality of life of my patients through movement and individualized specialized care. It’s also a home for athletes and active individuals to get treated by someone who has been in their shoes. Injured, frustrated, in pain, desperate. At True Motion Sports Chiropractic we look to bring back your body independence, remove that fear of movement, or thoughts that your body is fragile. We look to build a stronger, confident, and more resilient you. No matter the age, if you want to move and stay healthy this is the place for you!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been an easy smooth road. Initially, when I was finishing school I did not plan on become a business owner and open my own practice. I wanted to work at another established office, gain more experience and stability before deciding to go this route. When I was in the last 6 months of school I was given the opportunity to become the soft tissue specialist at The Hill Baseball Performance a place where baseball athletes of all levels elementary school to pro players go to train and/or develop. I figured it was a good location once I graduated to continue working in that atmosphere and with the population I most wanted to work with. In the following months I started planning and looking into the financial aspects of what it would cost to just start a business. I had lots of help from colleagues and the place where I was finishing my internship Vitality Sports Chiropractic on how to start and prepare myself for the challenging road ahead. Once we opened in September it has been very hard seeing expectations not come to fruition as one taught they were going to go or not as fast as I wanted it to go. It has been very challenging getting to market and get consistent patients in a community where i am not from. Through experimentation and some trial and error we have been getting momentum, it’s not always a direct path there are still ups and down, but I accept it all as a learning experience and a moment for growth that will continue to make me a better business owner and healthcare provider down the line.

As you know, we’re big fans of True Motion Sports Chiropractic . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
True Motion Sports Chiropractic is built around one simple belief: people deserve care that actually listens, adapts, and produces real progress. We are not a quick “crack and you’re out” office. At True Motion, we take the time to understand your story, your goals, and the root cause of your pain. Each visit is a minimum of 30 minutes and includes a combination of chiropractic adjustments, hands-on muscle work (cupping, scraping, active trigger point therapy, and deep tissue techniques), and movement-based corrective exercises to reinforce treatment and create long term results. Every visit intentionally builds on the last, with progression being a key reason our patients develop more resilient, confident, and independent bodies over time. We guide every patient through clear stages of care: relief, recovery, and maintenance because being out of pain doesn’t mean your body is done healing, and stopping too early is why many people end up stuck in the same pain cycle. Education is a cornerstone of our approach; patients who understand what’s happening in their body and why consistently achieve better outcomes. We are also not an office that wants to keep you coming in all the time or every week forever, we want to see you progress. While visits may be more frequent at the beginning, our goal is to transition you to monthly maintenance to keep your body resilient against life’s stressors. We also offer complementary services such as EMS, compression therapy, and KT taping when appropriate to support your recovery. Our mission is not to be a band-aid or make you dependent on care, but to help you feel confident in your body so you can move freely, sleep better, train, travel, play with your kids or grandkids, enjoy retirement, and live without fear of pain. If this sounds like what you want but pain is holding you back, this is the place for you: the best day to start was yesterday, but today is the next best day.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
If you look at where chiropractic is going over the next 5 to 10 years, I think we’re going to see a big shift away from quick, symptom-based care and more toward integrated, movement-focused, and preventative healthcare. Patients are becoming more educated and they’re looking for non-invasive solutions that actually help them move better, not just feel temporary relief. Chiropractic is also going to continue blending more with strength training, rehab, technology, and data-driven care, things like wearable feedback, better assessments, and more individualized plans. The offices that thrive will be the ones that educate their patients, focus on progression, and work alongside other healthcare and performance professionals instead of operating in isolation. Overall, I think chiropractic is moving toward helping people build resilient, independent bodies for the long term, rather than relying on passive care or endless visits just to “get cracked.”
