Exploring Life & Business with Kellie Olsen of The Painting Ladies Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellie Olsen.

Hi Kellie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
During the film strike I stayed busy by doing residential work in the neighborhood, EAV that is. Word of mouth has kept me busy, and it’s been mostly women who live alone and feel more comfortable with other women working in their homes. It’s grown ever since and I decided to make an official business out of it this year, the Painting ladies has really taken off fast! We are a group of female film workers who not only offer all services paint, but can build decks, replace siding, install flooring, basically anything construction wise.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It honestly has been smooth so far, but it’s still very small. I expect challenges to arise as the business expands, as this is my first time learning how to actually run a business.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Painting Ladies Atlanta. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a group of female IATSE 479 film workers who will bring our skill sets to beautify your home! Everything from custom faux finishes and wallpaper, to simple drywall repair and interior painting. We can refer other women who do all things construction as well.
Our attention to detail definitely sets us apart, as we are used to working under the gun for very large productions who expect a level of quality to show up on an imax screen. We are generally cheaper than the large painting companies as well, we aren’t trying to financially take advantage of anyone.
