Exploring Life & Business with Terence Cole of MakingMyMark Ent. LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terence Cole.

Hi Terence, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story is one of persistence, growth, and entrepreneurship. I’m a 31-year-old single father, full-time student, and business owner who has spent the last 15 years building brands, creating opportunities, and helping businesses grow through marketing, events, and media production.

I started by developing relationships within my community and learning how to connect people, businesses, and culture. Over time, that passion evolved into founding MakingMyMark Ent. LLC, where I focus on event marketing, promotions, brand development, and community engagement. I also founded TRILLA Visuals LLC, a photography and videography company that has allowed me to work with businesses, artists, media personalities, and events throughout the DMV and beyond.

Along the way, I’ve balanced fatherhood, education, and entrepreneurship while continuing to expand my skills and network. Every challenge has helped shape my perspective and reinforced my commitment to creating opportunities not only for myself but also for others.

Today, I’m focused on growing my businesses, completing my education, and building a lasting legacy through creativity, leadership, and community impact. My goal is to continue helping brands and individuals tell their stories while creating meaningful experiences that bring people together.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing life as a single father while pursuing higher education, maintaining full-time employment, and building multiple businesses. There have been times when resources were limited, opportunities didn’t work out as planned, and I had to make difficult decisions between stability and taking risks on myself.

As an entrepreneur, I’ve faced challenges such as building a client base, managing finances, navigating business setbacks, and learning how to adapt in constantly changing industries. There were moments when projects fell through, partnerships didn’t work out, or I had to start over from scratch.

Time management has also been a major challenge. Juggling family responsibilities, school, and entrepreneurship requires discipline and sacrifice. However, those obstacles taught me resilience, patience, and problem-solving skills. Instead of viewing setbacks as failures, I learned to see them as opportunities to grow and improve.

Looking back, every challenge has helped shape who I am today. The struggles strengthened my work ethic, reinforced my commitment to my goals, and motivated me to continue building a better future for my son, my businesses, and my community.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I like most about Atlanta is its culture, energy, and entrepreneurial spirit. Atlanta has built a reputation as a city where creatives, business owners, artists, and innovators can thrive. The city has a unique ability to blend its rich history with modern growth, creating opportunities for people from all backgrounds. As someone involved in marketing, media, and event production, I appreciate Atlanta’s strong entertainment industry, thriving small business community, and the way it supports creativity and networking.

What I like least is the traffic and the challenges that come with the city’s rapid growth. While development has brought new opportunities, it has also increased the cost of living and made it harder for some longtime residents and small businesses to keep pace with the changes.

Overall, Atlanta is one of the most influential cities in the country for culture, business, and entertainment. It’s a city that encourages people to think bigger, work harder, and pursue their goals, which is something I greatly respect and admire.
