Exploring Life & Business with Victoria Raby of Social Butterfly Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Raby.

Hi Victoria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been the person who loves bringing people together. Whether it was planning gatherings, connecting people, or helping someone share their story, I’ve always been drawn to creating experiences and building community.

My entrepreneurial journey started with Social Butterfly Events & Design, where I planned and designed events for individuals and businesses. Over time, I began creating content for a fitness brand I was working with, and that experience really opened my eyes to the power of social media. I saw firsthand how consistent content and intentional storytelling could grow a community, increase engagement, and bring more visibility to a business.

Around the same time, I was also navigating different experiences in my event work that challenged me and taught me a lot about resilience and direction. One of those moments really pushed me to step back and think about where I wanted to focus my energy long-term.

That combination of experiences ultimately led me to launch Social Butterfly Media. I realized I didn’t just love creating events—I loved helping businesses tell their story consistently and creatively through content. Today, I help brands build their online presence in a way that feels authentic and connects them to the people they’re meant to reach.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Entrepreneurship has a lot of highs, but it also comes with a lot of learning moments that you can’t really prepare for until you’re in them.

One of the biggest challenges for me has been clarity—figuring out exactly what direction I wanted to take and what kind of creative I wanted to be in this space. With Social Butterfly Media, I’ve had to learn not just how to get clients, but also how to communicate my value, define my services, and grow into the role of being a social media manager, content creator, and strategist all at once.

In the beginning, there were definitely moments of uncertainty. Building something from the ground up means you’re constantly testing, adjusting, and figuring things out in real time. I’ve had seasons where I questioned my approach, my niche, and even my confidence in what I was offering.

I’ve also had moments where I had to rebuild my confidence after experiences that didn’t go the way I expected, and learn how to keep going without letting those moments define me.

But looking back, all of those challenges were necessary. They forced me to get clear, stay consistent, and really understand what I wanted Social Butterfly Media to stand for. And in a lot of ways, the “figuring it out” season is what shaped the business I have today—one that focuses on helping brands show up online in a way that feels intentional, creative, and aligned.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Social Butterfly Media?
Social Butterfly Media is a creative agency focused on helping small businesses and brands show up online in a way that feels intentional, consistent, and authentic to who they are. I specialize in social media management, content creation, and digital strategy—basically helping businesses translate what they do in real life into content that connects with their audience online.

What sets my approach apart is that I don’t just focus on aesthetics or posting for the sake of posting. I focus heavily on storytelling and community. I want people to not only see a brand, but actually feel connected to it. That comes from understanding the “why” behind a business and building content that reflects that.

My background in events plays a big role in how I work as well. Before social media, I was already creating experiences and environments where people could connect in real life. That naturally transitioned into understanding how to build connection digitally—how to create content that feels personal, engaging, and human.

I also work closely with business owners to help them stay consistent and confident in their online presence. A lot of my clients are incredible at what they do, but don’t always have the time, structure, or creative direction to show up online the way they want to. That’s where I come in—not just as someone posting content, but as a creative partner in building their brand presence.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve been able to build a brand that feels aligned with who I am creatively. Social Butterfly Media is rooted in connection, creativity, and storytelling—and my goal is always to help other businesses communicate their value in a way that actually resonates with people, not just algorithms.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m very intentional about what I consume because I’m always in creator mode, whether I’m “working” or not. I follow a lot of creators and social media managers who are already doing what I aspire to do at a high level. I like studying them—how they structure content, how they show up, how they build community. It’s less about comparison and more like, “okay, let me learn something real from this.”

Spiritually, I also stay grounded through messages from Change Church—shout out to PD. Those messages genuinely help me reset and refocus. As an entrepreneur, there are so many moments where you’re making decisions on the fly or trying to figure out your next move, and that’s something that helps me stay centered and hear direction clearly.

And then on the creative side… I’m very much a Canva and Instagram Edits girl. Like, I live in those apps. I’m constantly trying to level up how I use them—not just for aesthetics, but so I can create better, cleaner, more engaging content for my clients. If there’s a new feature, I’m probably already testing it or trying to figure out how I can use it for a brand.

So for me it’s really a mix of being inspired by people I admire, staying spiritually grounded, and honestly just being hands-on in the tools every day. That combination keeps me sharp, creative, and always evolving.

Pricing:

  • My pricing is customized based on the scope of work and the level of support a business needs, because every brand is different. Most of my clients invest in ongoing monthly social media management, which includes content planning, creation, posting, and strategy. I also offer content creation sessions and one-time branding shoots for businesses that need fresh visuals or a reset in their online presence. Rather than a one-size-fits-all rate, I prefer to learn more about the business first so I can create a package that actually aligns with their goals, budget, and the level of support they’re looking for.
