Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Reynolds.
Hi Zach, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started when I would see my best friend taking pictures. I was amazed at how you could capture and freeze moments to look back at them later. I started shooting with a little digital camera my mom had, and she eventually bought me a little flip ultra video camera, and that’s where my video journey started. I began researching how to edit and shoot videos. Practicing different video editing effects, I would see on films and tv shows.
After graduating high school, I went to Southern Adventist University in Tennessee and studied communications. I bought my first DSLR camera and started making my own short films and music videos with my friends. I loved being able to tell stories through video. I saw the university had a film production major and I made the switch.
During my senior year, I continued making short films and ads with my friend’s clothing brand at our house, and soon, the house became our creative spot. The Bork House. The more I learned and practiced, the more I fell in love with story telling.
After graduating, I got a few jobs working on professional sets as a production assistant and later landed a corporate job as a videographer. The 9 to 5 became pretty mundane to me. Rarely filming just being in an office all day. I missed being creative and telling stories. In 2017 started Bork House Productions to be able to get back to the passion I first had. Being able to tell stories and capture moments for clients.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has not been smooth. Soon as I made the decision to leave my full-time job and start my business, covid hit and pushed everything to a halt. Stopping all productions and everything. So that was the biggest struggle I had to deal with.
We’ve been impressed with Bork House Productions, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Bork House Productions, LLC, which is a black-owned video production agency dedicated to executing your vision using visual arts to bring your stories and ideas to life. Here I am, the Director of Photography. We specialize in documentaries, commercials, campaigns, and short films. We love telling stories! We want to tell your story in a unique way. We make art that moves the world forward!
What matters most to you? Why?
Family is all we have. Everything I do is for them. They’re your first supporters and will always be there for you no matter what.
