Hidden Gems: Meet Chantel O’Brian of P.S. O’Brian Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantel O’Brian.

Hi Chantel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After competing and winning my first title as Miss World Bahamas 2015, it led me to fall in love with pageantry and modeling as a whole. I understood through that experience how essential proper etiquette was. In 2018, I decided that it was time for me to professionally offer my services as a pageant, runway and etiquette coach. I loved being able to empower my clients to attain their goals but felt even more passionate as I saw their transformation from the inside out. In 2019, after investing in my own training studio, I went out on faith and left my corporate job to focus on P.S. O’Brian Consulting. It absolutely felt the brunt of COVID-19 as many other businesses did however, my love for it never changed. As the business approaches four years, I am proud to have helped both men and women attain crowns placements, boost their self-confidence, improve their speech and deportment and so much more!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The most challenging reward I’ve ever had in life. Aside from COVID-19, I knew that I served a niche market. We are not a pageant driven country however, there are parents who understand the need for confidence building and this has helped for the business to expand. With the need for virtual platforms, I have had the opportunity to work with virtual clients who saw success in their pageants and competitions. Being an entrepreneur means that you put all you have on the line especially your finances and being able to be stable is a desire even if it’s not the reality. I am glad that throughout, I learned more about the do’s and don’ts in business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
P.S. O’Brian Consulting is primarily a pageant, model, etiquette training and consulting agency. We offer services such as catwalk skills, media and public speaking training, platform development, marketing and branding, pageant judging and overall pageant consulting for individuals as well as pageant organizations.

Chantel, the head coach, is known for her Silk Walk and providing her clients with the tools they need to light up a runway. She first entered the pageant world in 2013 where she competed for the Miss Universe Bahamas title and placed 1st runner up. She then set her eyes on the Miss World Bahamas 2014 title and placed 2nd runner up. She continued with pageantry and held the title of Miss West Indies Bahamas and represented The Bahamas in St. Maarten. She went on to re-enter the Miss World Bahamas 2015 pageant and won. The cherry on top for her pageant career is returning to compete for the Universe Bahamas title in 2021 where she won and went on to represent The Bahamas at Miss Universe. Aside from being the third woman in Bahamian history to hold both major titles, she is the first Bahamian woman in the history of The Bahamas’ representation at Miss Universe to place with a top 10 finish. Besides pageantry.

P.S. O’Brian seeks to challenge, encourage and brand young girls, men and women who aspire to attain pageant success, as well as develop change agents for the future. Its objective is to mold and sculpt individuals of character who will use the pageant platform to advocate important causes and represent The Bahamas/their country/state on the national and international stage.

P.S. O’Brian Consulting has worked with individuals and organizations for Miss Black International Ambassador (Georgia), National American Miss, International Junior Miss, Miss Collegiate USA, Miss Earth USA, California Cinderella Princess, Miss Universe Miss World and Miss Grand.

What sets us apart is our foundation for all our coaching being confidence. We absolutely want our clients to look their best but we want them to feel their best before, during and after their experience with us. Mentor-ship programs have also been implemented which is geared to build confidence and self-esteem within young girls while they learn techniques of etiquette and social presentation to become more polished.

It’s important that people know that we are committed to helping our clients become the best version of themselves. We’re not only pageant-based but create runway choreography as well. We love being diverse, fun and impactful.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Perfection is a myth. As an entrepreneur, we want everything to be right from inception. Sometimes dealing with failure can be frustrating but knowing that there may be some speedbumps in the road reminds me that I absolutely love what I do.
