Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Weitnauer.
Hi Claire, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Decatur, but spent many years living first on the west coast and then in NYC where I learned the Baby Retail business. When I moved back home to Georgia in 2024, I was eager to dive into the Atlanta baby world. Shocked at how few baby and parent focused shops existed in Atlanta, I strove to create a business that serves families and their loved ones. And so Weithaus was born! We opened our brick and mortar shop in Avondale Estates in September 2025, and look forward to connecting with more and more families across Atlanta.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning and growing a small business today is extremely difficult. The economy is a challenge for customers and business owners alike. There’s also the constant competition with online mega-stores like Amazon. I am also a new business owner who makes and learns from mistakes every day. But it’s extremely rewarding!
We’ve been impressed with Weithaus Baby & Home, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Weithaus Baby & Home offers timelessly beautiful baby products and decor, with gifts and essentials from pregnancy through toddlerhood. We are one of the only shops in Atlanta dedicated entirely to pregnancy, postpartum, and baby goods, and our products are eco-friendly and made to last lifetimes. Community is also at the root of our business, as we believe in the age old adage that it takes a village to raise a family. We offer classes and events to support families and provide community for busy parents and growing kids. Our curated shop is perfect for everything baby related, from one of a kind baby shower gifts to self-care products for a pregnant, postpartum, or nursing parent.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Be engaged in the ecosystem! Showing up to events and supporting other business owners builds trust and community, and people will show back up to help you. Be curious and listen well, as there are mentors and friends in abundance when you are open to it.
