Hidden Gems: Meet Darlington Ocansey of A Serene Mind Counseling Services LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darlington Ocansey.

Hi Darlington, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
During my undergraduate studies, I was initially unsure of my academic path, but I always knew I wanted to help people. Over time, I discovered that mental health was both my passion and my calling. After completing my undergraduate degree, I pursued graduate training and went on to complete 3,000 supervised clinical hours under a licensed therapist.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Completing my graduate degree was challenging. I worked overnight as a security guard, attended my internship in the mornings, and balanced full-time work with evening graduate courses. Despite the demands, I persevered and successfully completed my program.

As you know, we’re big fans of A Serene Mind Counseling Services LLC . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am a licensed mental health therapist and the owner of a private practice dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with clarity, resilience, and self-compassion. My work centers on supporting adults and families who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and emotional regulation.
I specialize in providing therapy that is both clinically grounded and deeply human. I am known for creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood—often for the first time. My approach integrates evidence-based practices with a culturally responsive and trauma-informed lens, allowing treatment to be tailored to each client’s lived experience rather than a one-size-fits-all model.
What sets my practice apart is authenticity and accessibility. I believe healing happens through real connection, not clinical distance. I draw from my professional training as well as my own lived experiences of perseverance, which helps me relate to clients with empathy and honesty. I focus not only on symptom reduction, but on helping clients build insight, emotional strength, healthy boundaries, and sustainable life skills.
Brand-wise, I am most proud of the trust my clients place in me and the reputation my practice has built for integrity, compassion, and meaningful change. My practice represents resilience, growth, and the belief that healing is possible—even when the journey has been difficult.
I want readers to know that my brand is rooted in purpose. Therapy is not just what I do—it is my calling. My goal is to make mental health care feel approachable, empowering, and transformative, while reminding clients that they do not have to navigate their struggles alone.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was the time that I enjoyed with my family.
