Today we’d like to introduce you to Dewayne Hart.
Hi Dewayne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Every story has a unique background and one that unveils how someone embarked success. My experience began in 1988 when I decided to join the U.S. Navy. During this specific period, I was challenged to determine whether attending an Electronic School was a better option or becoming a Sailor. While in high school, I was always intrigued by technology and building electronic boards. So my transition into the U.S. Navy was a far better option. I still remember walking into the recruiter’s office and seeing how the U.S. Navy was technologically advanced. The 20-Years in the U.S. Navy were very rewarding as they provided the opportunity to engage in technology, facilitate and develop leadership, and achieve personal growth. While in uniform, I traveled through every international waterway and visited over 30 countries, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean. Despite the traveling, I continued to pursue my education and earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Both concentrated on technology.
After retiring in 2008, I decided to gain employment and became very intrigued with Cybersecurity, Having a background in technology, training, and public speaking prepared me well for a Cybersecurity career. After several years of employment, I figured that having 20 years of military training and experience in technology directly related to business ownership. In 2014, I formed Secure Managed Instructional Systems (SEMAIS) to deliver Cybersecurity consulting and Workforce Development. The firm provides services to many government agencies and commercial industries.
About two years ago, I realized that selling my best would add more business and personal value. In college and afterward, writing was always my passion and solitude. So to advance my skillsets, I decided in 2021 to write an authored publication called the “Cybersecurity Mindset.” The publication is a common-sense approach and thinking model. I often describe the “Cybersecurity Mindset” as a modern playbook, resource guide, or tool kit. Its outcome removes cybersecurity fears, navigates best practices, and connects cybersecurity technologies for readers.. Despite which technical or non-technical community a reader represents, the “Cybersecurity Mindset” will advance their cybersecurity thinking process.
Another initiative is that I conduct a weekly Podcast and YouTube Livestream called the “Chief of Cybersecurity” that discusses workforce development and best practices for Cybersecurity.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many, the road to success has many bumps and bruises. For myself, the bumps and bruises healed pretty fast. I still remember adjusting to many cultures and supportive people during my early military and business career. To challenge each, I developed alternatives: become wiser, focus on priorities, work ahead, and build an independent mindset.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Secure Managed Instructional Systems (SEMAIS)?
The firm provides services to many government agencies and commercial industries to reduce cybersecurity risk exposure. The core offerings ensure data, applications, and systems are secure and resilient. The unique aspect of SEMAIS is that we “speak cybersecurity,” – which means we are cybersecurity-focused, and having this skillset allows clients to envision us a direct resource.
The brand brings a 3-dimensional security practice, where a podcast, authored publication, and consulting firm operate as one. This allows clients to gain rapid information on their cybersecurity requirements.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The credit for my success is far more enormous than I could report! I “must” always thank my family for visualizing my future and success. While growing up, I was always regarded as the one that must do well. Friends came along the way and projected the same thoughts. I believe that each saw the best and wanted to ensure I was held to a higher standard. Still today, my family calls me “Chief”. I was told in the military that once a “Chief” always a “Chief”. Gaining the rank of a “Chief” was the same – as I was always held to a higher standard by my shipmates!
