Hidden Gems: Meet Evan Dunbar of Full Contact K9 LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Dunbar.

Hi Evan , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I got started training dogs under my uncle, who was a police dog trainer with a military background. That’s where I was first exposed to working dogs and the level of commitment the craft really demands.

As I got more involved, I developed a real interest in the work and started pursuing working dog sports like Schutzhund (now IGP) and French Ring. That’s where I spent years learning, refining my approach, and understanding how to properly develop a dog.

Over time, that path led me to build Full Contact K9. Today, we focus on fully trained family security dog sales, primarily German Shepherds imported from proven European working lines, as well as all-breed obedience training.

At its core, it’s always been about a genuine interest in the craft and producing dogs that are reliable in normal household environments.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a rewarding journey that’s taken me all over the world, but it hasn’t been an easy ride.

Owning a small business is a 24/7 responsibility. You’re managing clients, dogs, logistics, and constantly trying to stay ahead in a space that doesn’t stand still. I care deeply about the outcome for both the client and the dog, so there’s a lot of pressure to get it right every time.

There have definitely been moments where I’ve had to rely on sheer ingenuity and persistence to keep things moving, especially in the early years. But those challenges are part of what sharpens your standards and forces you to improve.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Full Contact K9 is built around two core services: fully trained protection dog sales and all-breed obedience training.

On the trained dog sales side, we specialize in sourcing and developing high-level German Shepherds from proven European working lines. These aren’t typical “trained dogs.” They’re purpose bred, fully developed animals that have been selected for genetics, temperament, and real world capability. Each dog is trained in advanced obedience and protection, then carefully matched to the client’s lifestyle. The goal is a dog that lives seamlessly in the home but can perform anywhere when it actually matters.

We also work with clients locally in Atlanta through our obedience training programs. That’s focused on creating fulfilled, manageable pets people can live with day to day. Clear communication, consistency, and practical results.

What sets us apart is a narrow focus and a high standard. We don’t try to do everything, and we don’t cut corners. A lot of time is spent on selection, development, and making sure the right dog ends up in the right environment.

From a brand standpoint, I’m most proud of the consistency. The standards don’t change, whether it’s a family obedience client or someone investing in a trained protection dog. At the end of the day, it’s about delivering something that actually holds up long term.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
