
Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerica Carter.
Jerica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Before I become a Health & Fitness entrepreneur along with assisting others on their journey of transformation. I found myself staring at my own reflection in the bathroom mirror seven years ago… I wasn’t happy with what I saw. I was even more unhappy with how I felt. Overweight. Overwhelmed. Just… over it. “You’ve got to get your shit together,” I told myself. “Or you’ll end up on the same path as your mother.”
My mother also battled with similar issues with her weight and overall health. Even after a gastric bypass surgery, she passed away at the untimely age of 43. Now here I am a mother weighing in at 300 pounds and battling high blood pressure and severe depression. My life was off balance, my mind wasn’t aligned and I felt like a misfit. So I began to embark on my own journey of transformation. I started to incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables, “I even went on a seven-day raw-food diet.”
While the change was difficult at first, I persevered – and started getting results.
“I began feeling so much better,” I had mental clarity, more energy, my skin had cleared up. It was just a phenomenal experience.”
Little by little, I continued to change my eating habits. I stopped eating red meat and pork and noticed the heavy feeling in her body really began to lift. The inflammation in my digestive tract lessened and eventually, she dropped the meat altogether.
But the food wasn’t the only thing changing in Jerica’s life. She also started discovering the healing benefits of yoga. As a stay-at-home mom of three daughters, I was initially searching for a way to deal with stress.
“I ventured for ways that I could relax myself, and tap into who I was before I had children, I would do a 20-minute Vinyasa flow that I found on YouTube, a gentle yoga. And then I would take a shower or eat something – just practice self-care. I just felt so peaceful; it was like a peace I’ve never experienced.”
Because I received so many positive results with Food & Fitness I began to teach others and Msphyt’s Food & Fitness was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it was easy I had to juggle being a mom and wife and finding time to put myself first and stick to the plan.
We’ve been impressed with Msphyt’s Food & Fitness LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Msphyt’s Food & Fitness combines Yoga & Ayurveda principles to address all aspects of our health and well-being. Our diet, environment, lifestyle exercise in form of asana, -breathing techniques in form of —- pranayama and the mental techniques can be used to restore balance to both body, mind and spirit. While most other fitness & nutrition systems focus only on the physical and chemical effects of nutrition, yoga with nutrition considers the mental and spiritual aspects of our food.
