Hidden Gems: Meet Karen Aguirre of Casa Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Aguirre.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would start my own Social Media Marketing company. I’ve been an Artist for as long as I can remember so the dream has always been to have a successful acting career. I’m still auditioning and living that dream but I also fell in love with social media marketing and helping small businesses manage their social media. It has not been an easy road, but I didn’t expect it to be. I prefer it that way because it pushes me to be better.

I love learning new things, I love being creative, and I love helping people. With Casa Creative I get to do all those things, so it’s a dream come true. I am fortunate enough to have a business mentor who is helping me build Casa Creative. Having someone who is in my corner and cheering me on as I build my empire has been a huge blessing.

It took me some time to decide what I wanted to name my business because I wanted to make sure it clearly represented me and my culture. I think my vision clearly comes through my name and logo; Casa Creative. It’s a place that people can call their creative home, and it’s also vibrant and fun.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road but I enjoy the challenges. If it was easy then everyone would be doing it, it’s the challenges along the way that make you a great leader. One of the biggest challenges has been juggling everything I already do on top of starting my own business. As I mentioned earlier, I am still pursuing my acting career, but I am also a Teaching Artist and I also have another job. I work 60+ hours a week to make it all happen, and it’s hard because sometimes I don’t have the time I would like to have to spend with my significant other, family, and friends. I know it won’t be like this forever, so that’s what keeps me going.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Casa Creative is a Social Media Marketing firm that helps small business owners manage their social media pages. I’ve met a lot of business owners who either don’t have time or don’t like managing their own social media, and that’s where Casa Creative comes in. Casa Creative is a Latina-owned firm in Atlanta, so we are able to cater to the Spanish-speaking community.

When someone signs up for one of our social media packages they also receive a brand guide and a social media marketing strategy designed just for them based on their goals. We also go out and snap pictures and videos that we may need in order to create beautiful content for the client.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You gotta keep going. No one is going to go make your dreams come true for you, you gotta do it yourself. There’s always going to be obstacles, there’s always going to be people who don’t support you, and that’s okay. I am part of an industry where I constantly face rejection (Film and TV) but that’s made me stronger. One of the hardest jobs I ever had was when I lived in New York.

Not a lot of people know this but I did door-to-door sales for a little bit and that was the best business course I could have taken. Imagine this Latina woman from Atlanta banging on doors in the snow in New York City. Do you know how many doors got slammed in my face daily? Too many, but I wouldn’t change that time for anything. I learned about perseverance and endurance. That time in life needed to happen so that I could have the tools to build my own business.

Keep going warriors, don’t let anyone or anything stop you.
