Hidden Gems: Meet Marlene Romero of Primerica financial servise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marlene Romero.

Hi Marlene, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in Colombia, where I studied Business Administration and gained experience working across different industries. While this professional foundation was important, my most transformative education came through life itself. Alongside my husband’s career in the hospitality industry, we lived in multiple cities and countries, including Cartagena, Panama, Puerto Rico, Miami, Alabama, and Atlanta. Each move requires starting over, adapting quickly, and learning to see change not as a setback, but as an opportunity.
Over time, these experiences shaped my entrepreneurial mindset. Exposure to diverse cultures, business environments, and community needs taught me how to identify opportunities in unfamiliar settings. My path ultimately led me to Atlanta, where I found a company whose mission aligned deeply with my values and vision, helping families build financial clarity, stability, and long-term security. That alignment allowed me to turn experience into purpose and entrepreneurship into impact.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth, and that is precisely where the greatest lessons emerged. One of the main challenges has been learning how to manage time, intentionally building a business while remaining fully present for my family. Entrepreneurship often demands more than expected, and without discipline and boundaries, balance can easily be lost.
Another ongoing challenge has been navigating inconsistency, both in business and in people. I have witnessed how a lack of follow-through and accountability often prevents individuals from protecting their families or preparing for the future. These struggles reinforced my belief that success is not only about opportunity, but about responsibility, consistency, and the willingness to act even when it feels uncomfortable.

We’ve been impressed with Primerica financial servise, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am part of a financial services organization dedicated to helping families organize their finances across five essential areas: income, protection, debt elimination, homeownership, and financial independence. Through the How Money Works program, we focus on financial education, empowering individuals with the knowledge they need to make confident, informed decisions.
What sets my work apart is a purpose-driven approach. I have earned licenses in insurance, investments, and mortgage lending, allowing me to provide comprehensive guidance rather than isolated solutions. Beyond services, I am deeply committed to serving and educating communities, particularly the Latino population, while fostering integration and long-term financial stability. I am especially proud of building a brand centered on trust, education, and impact, not just transactions.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is that growth requires adaptability, consistency, and ownership. Success is rarely linear, and progress depends on how we respond to change and challenges. Financial education, long-term planning, and protection are not optional; they are responsibilities for anyone who wants to build stability and a legacy.
I have also learned that true success is measured not only by personal achievements but by the lives we help improve along the way. When entrepreneurs commit to continuous learning, manage their time with purpose, and act with values and intention, they create meaningful impact, and most importantly, they never give up on their dreams.
