Hidden Gems: Meet Michael Chapman of Sweet Lemons Auto Detailing LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Chapman.

Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Everything really started back in college at Georgia State. I didn’t have much knowledge about entrepreneurship until I took a class about it my third year in school. After taking that class I knew that i wanted to have my own business one day, but I had no clue what I wanted it to be in. I am a real do-it-yourself person with a lot of things in my life, and one thing that I always liked doing myself was working on cars, whether I knew what I was doing or not. in the years after COVID I started seeing more Youtube videos about car rebuilding, car flipping, and car detailing, and after cleaning and waxing my own car car more and more often, whether it was dirty or not, I knew I found what I wanted to do. I started watching more detailing videos on the different products and equipment people use and how companies did it mobile and in June 2023 Sweet lemons was born. My mom helped me get some the equipment I needed and I started out practicing on hers and my step dad’s cars on the weekends. I would work on creating my website and making and editing videos whenever I had time at work and at home, and on Christmas Eve that same year I had my first customer, Fast forward to now I am having my best year so far, travelling to just about every city inside and outside of the perimeter on a daily basis. I feel like I am really finding my groove and living the life that I always wanted to have and I am extremely thankful and blessed that I get to continue doing what I love every single day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road. Knowing the person I am if someone showed me the smooth road I would probably still go down the rough one. The same day that I booked my first appointment me and my fiancee had broken up so I had to deal with the fall out from that my whole first year. a couple of months after that I walked out on my full-time job as a teacher and went into my business full-time, which was good the first couple of months but once those paychecks stopped coming things got tricky for a while. I was able to bounce back a little and did over $30,000 in sales for the year, but at the end of it I only had a couple of dollars left to my name so all of that took a mental toll. Plus still having to raise my daughter there was a lot that was put on my shoulders, most of it by my own doing, but it all made me want to keep learning and getting better because I always told myself that there was no way I was going back to working a job or be in the situation I was in. Now my peace of mind is better than it has ever been and I am more appreciative of the things I have and the people who have supported me up to this point/

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We provide mobile detailing services that comes where you are. Whether at home or on the job, we can get your vehicle clean whenever you need and wherever you are. We offer interior and exterior detailing, ceramic coatings, and polishing and waxing. We work on cars, trucks, SUVs, vans and have experience with boats, motorcycles, and semi-trucks. I’ve even cleaned a playground before. We are not limited to certain locations and cities, I have traveled all over the state to provide service. That is probably what I am most proud about brand wise is that I have been and travelled to so many different cities and that people have found me in so many places. I’m in a different city everyday and look forward to going to even more. I’ve even had someone in Florida book an appointment, but unfortunately Sweet Lemons is Georgia only right now but at this rate it won’t be that way for long, and its all due to the great people here in my home state continuing to make my dreams reality.
