Hidden Gems: Meet Olga Santiago of Maracas Bar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Santiago.

Hi Olga, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I moved to Atlanta and my first job was a server and moved up to a bartender as I learned how to make drinks. Bartending was my first career, it pt me through nursing school. My brother in law, Junior, married into the family and always gave us motivation to do better. He kept mentioning opening a business as I was well rounded in the bar business and him in business. I finally agreed and so now we are here..!!!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was a long road. We committed and gave it our all to be here.

We’ve been impressed with Maracas Bar, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Maracas Bar is a unique place for everyone to enjoy to the fullest. What sets us apart is that we have a bar that offers a VIP section for events, we offer hookahs, bottle service. We have a section for pool tables, a section for lottery machines, a covered patio with seating, and our food is amazing. We are a bar that when you come in, it’s a celebration.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like that Atlanta is a city where you will always find something fun to do. Life is hard enough and the city offers relaxation and fulfillment. Traffic would be the least thing I like.
