Hidden Gems: Meet Shannon Kay of Renew Contouring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Kay.

Hi shannon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been a corporate pilot for the last 25 years. After an emergency situation during a flight in 2023, I decided I wanted to be on the ground more. I began looking into different industries that I would enjoy creating in and ultimately landed in the beauty/self care industry. My goal is to create an experience that helps people feel more confident in their own skin.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a fun ride! But not smooth. I’m creating something specific. I’m not completely there yet. Each day I get closer and closer.

Of course the government shutdown didn’t help. Being located in an Army base town has its ups and downs, especially financially.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in noninvasive body contouring. We eliminate unwanted fat pockets while tightening skin, smoothing cellulite and diminishing stretch marks, fine lines and wrinkles.

What sets us apart is the experience. When you come in for a session, it feels like chatting with your bestie. We offer a safe place for our clients to be themselves. Imagine how vulnerable someone feels while showing a complete stranger the area of their body that they hate. When you mix that vulnerability with a safe place, a listening ear, a smiling, accepting demeanor… it truly is special. Our clients open up to us about all kinds of things. Our technicians are encouragers and become the client’s biggest cheerleader.

We are body contouring specialists on a secret mission to build confidence and start inner healing for every client that walks through our doors.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I do not have a mentor. I’ve had people in my life that I can pull from on different topics.

As a corporate pilot, I’ve met some extremely powerful/successful people. One that stands out in this journey is Stacy Brown, founder of Chicken Salad Chick, owner of Botanic. One dinner with her provides so much clarity. She can put things in perspective like no one else.

Networking is not my jam, but I know the benefits from it. I choose to attend events for business owners and from that, I meet one-on-one with people that I’d like to collab with. I’ve made some great friends/connections/business partners that way.
