Hidden Gems: Meet Shaykara Webster of Salvation Private Home Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaykara Webster.

Hi Shaykara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
If you ask anyone who knows me, they’ll tell you that I’ve always been a “people-first” problem solver. I’m the person who can’t sit still when I see a gap, whether that’s in a workplace, a community, or in someone’s access to opportunity or resources. I believe that real change starts when we combine heart with action, and that’s been the driving force behind every step of my journey.

I’ve always had a heart for service and a deep commitment to building systems that truly support people, whether in my work as an HR and operations leader or in my community advocacy. But my journey into home health care began with a realization: in Georgia, there are so many families raising medically fragile children who desperately need more than just skilled nursing. They need guidance, resources, and someone in their corner to help them navigate programs like the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP).

In 2024, I launched Salvation Private Home Care with a mission to serve children under 21 with complex medical needs, and to do it differently. We provide no-out of pocket cost in-home nursing care and, when possible, help parents or family members become paid caregivers for their own children through GAPP. But we don’t stop there. We take a “360° approach,” intentionally partnering with other organizations to connect our families to resources like respite care, summer camps, and transportation services.

Today, we’re proud to be more than just a home care provider, we’re a trusted ally for parents who are navigating the challenges of raising a medically fragile child. And while our agency is growing, what matters most to me is knowing that each family we serve feels seen, supported, and empowered.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most entrepreneurs, my journey with Salvation Private Home Care  hasn’t been without its bumps in the road. The home health industry, especially when you’re serving medically fragile children through programs like the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP), comes with a steep learning curve and a maze of regulations.

One of the biggest challenges early on was building awareness. There are still so many parents in Georgia who don’t know that no out-of-pocket cost in-home nursing care and the paid family caregiver option even exist. We’ve had to be strategic about community outreach, partnering with schools, hospitals, and other organizations to get the word out, all while staying compliant with Medicaid guidelines.

Another challenge has been supporting underserved families with limited resources. Many families come to us overwhelmed, they know their child needs help, but they’re unable to follow traditional intake processes due to barriers like limited internet access, outdated mobile devices, or communication barriers. I quickly realized that part of our mission would be not only to provide nursing services, but also to support parents through every step of the enrollment process so they never feel alone.

Despite these obstacles, each challenge has reinforced why my husband and I started this agency in the first place. We’re not just here to provide skilled care, we’re here to be advocates, educators, and partners for families navigating some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Salvation Private Home Care?
Salvation Private Home Care is a licensed home health care agency in Georgia specializing in serving medically fragile children under the age of 21. We proudly participate in the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP), which allows us to provide no-out of pocket cost in-home nursing care to eligible families. In many cases, we’re also able to help a parent or family member become a paid caregiver for their own child, something that can be life-changing both emotionally and financially.

What truly sets us apart is our 360° approach to care. While most agencies focus solely on providing skilled nursing, we understand that families raising medically fragile children have needs that go beyond medical support. We intentionally partner with other service providers to connect our families to resources like respite care, summer camps, therapy services, and transportation programs. We don’t just hand over a list of contacts, we walk alongside families to help them access the full range of support available to them.

We’re most proud of being known as a trusted ally for parents. Many of our families come to us during moments of overwhelm and uncertainty. By the time they begin receiving services, they know they have a dedicated team advocating for them, educating them, and celebrating their wins, big and small.

At our core, our brand stands for compassion, empowerment, and community. Whether a family is just starting to explore GAPP eligibility or is ready to begin services right away, our team meets them where they are and ensures they never have to navigate the journey alone.

“At Salvation Private Home Care, we believe families raising medically fragile children deserve more than just nursing care, they deserve a partner who sees the whole picture, connects them to resources, and walks beside them every step of the way.”

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice for anyone starting out, whether in health care, entrepreneurship, or community work, is to lead with purpose, not just profit. In the beginning, it’s easy to get caught up in checklists, marketing plans, and projections. Those things matter, but your “why” is what will sustain you through the challenges. For me, that “why” has always been the families we serve at Salvation Private Home Care and the belief that they deserve not only quality care, but dignity, respect, and advocacy.

I also wish I had known how important it is to build your network early. In our industry, success isn’t just about services, it’s about relationships. The connections we’ve made with schools, hospitals, therapists, and community organizations have been the key to reaching families who otherwise might never have heard of the Georgia Pediatric Program (GAPP)  or the paid family caregiver option

And finally, be prepared to learn as you go. When you’re working with underserved families and navigating complex systems like Medicaid, you’ll face situations that don’t have a clear playbook. Approach those moments with humility, patience, and a willingness to adapt.

“Start with your mission, build relationships like your business depends on it, because it does, and never lose sight of the people you set out to serve.”
