Today we’d like to introduce you to Atinuke (Aaliyah) Adedeji.
Atinuke, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
For as long as I can remember I’ve always fallen under the “creative” umbrella. Personally and professionally I have a love for all things fashion and beauty. I graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a bachelor’s in fashion merchandising and my day job is in digital marketing, branding, and content creation but having my own brand was always my goal.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Whew. Is anything ever truly smooth sailing? The journey to starting VNM has been a long one. So many iterations and roadblocks. Funding is probably the largest obstacle thus far. I’m definitely having some growing pains but it’s worth it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about VNM by Vixen?
VNM by Vixen sells statement handbags and accessories to people looking to elevate their wardrobe. Our brand prides itself on minimalist designs with provocative and affirming statements. Our customers are fashion-forward and edgy Gen Z and Millennial age individualists who aren’t afraid to stand out. Our signature bag the Brunch Mini is currently available on our site in 7 different styles.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Your backup plans need backups. With Covid disrupting supply chain and shipping. I’m learning to be a lot more malleable in my business plans. I expected to have this perfect launch and rollout and reality humbled me quickly. There’s no such thing as perfect when you’re running a small business. Being able to adapt when life throws a curveball in is my biggest takeaway.
