Today we’d like to introduce you to David King
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a Marine Corps Veteran, originally from Michigan. After I got out, I stayed in Georgia when I married my wife in 2014.
I created First in Restoration in 2024 but my experience is far reaching. I have an extensive background in construction dating as far back as 2017. I have owned a sister company, which I rebranded as Honeydew Homes in 2020 which helps homeowners with interior design, remodels and renovations. I previously worked with a restoration company and gained experience in mitigation, reconstruction and insurance claims. This experience put me on the right track to create First In Restoration.
In 2023 I witnessed a well known restoration company mistreat an elderly family friend. They went in like a bull in a china shop and destroyed her house and her insurance would not cover the flood or the mitigation. Leaving her on the hook for the mess that the restoration company created. This could have been avoided all together.
This matter encouraged me to start First in Restoration so I could help people in their time of need. I got my IICRC certification for water in the summer of 2024 and started my new business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. No business is ever free of struggles or difficulties much like life in general.
It’s not a typical job. We don’t provide a service and get paid right away. We rely heavily on insurance companies and those can take quite some time to pay. However, it’s a very rewarding job because I get to help people.
We’ve been impressed with First In Restoration, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
First In Restoration provides mitigation and restoration for water damage (including pipe breaks, sewage backups as well as storm damage or floods), fire damage and mold.
We are insurance claim specialists and can provide reconstruction. We also service commercial spaces in addition to residential. All of our technicians are trained and certified by the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification).
First In Restoration is Marine Corps Veteran owned and operated in southeast Georgia. Just like US Marines are the first in during a dangerous situation, First In Restoration is the first in for a crisis in your home or business.

Take it slow and be patient. Don’t rush anything. Try to be the best you can be at what you do. Be the most knowledgeable at your job as you can be. Learn everything in your industry so it sets you apart. The more you know the better you’re prepared for the unexpected.
