Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Delamar.
Hi Jasmine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I’ve always had a strong passion for fitness. I’ve had many opportunities to participate in various sports which enabled me to find passion for the process. Although I enjoy the competitiveness of organized sports my early years allowed me to experience, my desire for the process was what I gravitated towards. That passion was allowed to blossom in college, and I found what fulfills me. I started to attend my college campus gym at Georgia State University back in 2017, pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education, when I decided to take a chance on helping someone better themselves. I had classes with several people who loved my physique and wanted to work out with me. So most of the days out of the week, I would give them a workout and majority of my college days went as such. I enjoyed it so much because I’ve always loved helping people and helping someone in a field that I hold the most passion in made me take great pleasure in it so much more. While in college, I worked at a gym for a couple of years where I got to view a personal trainer’s life through their lens to see if it was something I truly wanted to do. I feel as though watching the process made me want to pursue this life even more.
With that being said, I took a leap and decided to put myself out there to gain more exposure by creating a fitness Instagram page. I even walked around campus to talk to people who may have been interested in personal training and that opened many doors for me. I was so amazed by how many people I would train and how many lives I’d change for the better. Since I’ve graduated college, My dream still lives on. I love what I do day in and day out. That euphoric feeling is something I wish I could bottle and sell, instead I created countless avenues, one of those being access to my Youtube page where I walk through workouts in depth, explaining and demonstrating not only how but why we do certain exercises. For individuals that would like to take an extra step and want a more personal and structured workout plan, I created a website – Jaydfitness.co that allows those who are ready for more in-depth sessions in which they can book a private session. I will continue to inspire and encourage through my actions because I feel as though it’s my purpose here.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it’s never been a smooth road. I feel as though if there aren’t any obstacles in the way, I wouldn’t be able to grow as a person let alone a trainer. I think when roadblocks are placed along the way, they alter your life in a sense. Some of the struggles I’ve encountered would be working with clients who may have injuries because you’d have to train them a little differently than the rest. However, that doesn’t stop me from helping them achieve the results they want. Another struggle that I experienced along the way was that no matter how much you motivate your clients to keep going during the training process, sometimes life gets in the way on their end and they aren’t able to make ends meet with you anymore. I just hope that during that process, I was able to teach them something that they can take somewhere else and apply it. Training is a two way street, yes it takes 120% from me but I can’t do it alone. It’s a team effort, I show up for you, you show up for me. I’ve learned to embrace the process through it all.

What I specialize in, or my niche rather, is helping people grow their glutes and tone up. I struggled gaining weight for the longest and when I figured out what worked for me, my transformation rolled in beautifully. The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
During the Covid-19 crisis, I feel as though there’s so much to grasp in this moment. I realized that family mattered a lot more than anything. It definitely has brought my family and I much closer and I have loved every bit of it. When I look out at what’s happening in the world today, I found it interesting that it is a MUST that we stay connected with one another as far as face-to-face human interactions. It just seems as if no matter what the world is going through, it’s like we would die if we’re not out partying or getting together with some friends, having fun. I definitely feel as though the pandemic made people become a little lazy because we became so used to just sitting in the house for such a long time so I found it interesting but not surprising because it was inevitable.
