Today we’d like to introduce you to Kala Dickherber
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
First off, I’m so happy to be back doing a follow up story with you all. Thanks so much for the invitation! Since this is a follow up, I’ll keep this part short and sweet. I started as a struggling single mother during Covid with way too much time on my hands. I always loved creating things and thought maybe I could start making a little extra money during the pandemic doing so. I started with small things like keychains and jewelry, then added photography and paintings, and now have added a whole shop with various types of products! I never thought my side hustle and passion for art would bring me to where I am today. Starting Echo Rises has brought me so many opportunities, such as moving from Missouri to Georgia, doing various art shows, meeting amazing new people, and now having my work in different local shops. I couldn’t be more grateful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has definitely not been a smooth road. There have been many struggles including, emotional, physical, and financial. When I picked up and moved from Missouri to Georgia I had pretty much a dollar to my name. On my way to Georgia with my moving truck I ended up in the hospital in Tennessee and then again as soon as I hit the Georgia state line. I have a heart condition and of course that was the time it decided to get worse. When I finally made it to my destination, I ended up back in the hospital for 2 weeks. You’d think I’d maybe have taken that as a sign? No, it just made me keep pushing more. It did cause even more financial and emotional struggles though. My son also had a hard time with the move which broke my heart.
Anyway, struggles are a part of every journey. We will have them if we give up, and we will have them if we keep pushing forward. I’d rather just keep pushing forward when they come along. I never want to have to tell my son I gave up because something was too hard.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Echo Rises?
Echo Rises is a small, woman owned business that promotes a natural lifestyle, valuing the mind, body, and soul of all. All items are handcrafted and cruelty free. We offer organic skincare, cleaning, & pet products, jewelry, crystals, herbs, essential oils, digital downloads, and more. We also offer mental, physical, and spiritual wellness products that are going to be a big part of our newest subscription boxes. So be on the lookout for those!
I love graphic design, writing, photography, poetry, etc, so most digital downloads have something to do with that, but I also offer prints and stickers, commission based work (tattoo designs), and personalized requests.
I think sticking together as small businesses is so important so I offer web design (having the time to get your website up and going is sometimes impossible to do alone), business cards, logos, etc, and am so happy to be partnering with other amazing small businesses, artists, and entrepreneurs as well.
I am a wellness mentor and advocate so I offer sessions with struggling individuals, as well as creating wellness journals and worksheets, and offering daily check-ins (how’s your day, oracle card of the day, selfcare tip of the day, etc).
Many people ask why I do the whole natural lifestyle and offer all the mental health help. As someone that has struggled with both mental and physical health it means a lot to me. Taking medication after medication started causing even more problems, doctors never being able to fully figure certain things out was frustrating and I started feeling hopeless. I wanted to take control of my emotional, spiritual, and physical wellness so I started researching natural remedies. When I found things that not only worked for me but for my son as well, it made me want to help others too.
I have a background in EMT work, cosmetology, fitness training, & psychology, which all have helped me in this process. I am now also a licensed energy/crystal healer, and am furthering my education in herbal supplements and aromatherapy.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I just want to thank everyone reading this, my amazing followers, my friends/family, my online community, and this wonderful magazine for asking me to do another interview. You all are awesome.
Many of you know I do a lot of different jobs besides Echo Rises (acting, modeling, photography, etc), but I want to specifically shout out Main Street Trollys in Covington, GA (aka Mystic Falls for my Vampire Diaries fans) where I work as a tour guide. The people there who are now beloved friends of mine, the little shop, and our tours are amazing. If you’re ever in the area, stop in and see us!
Another big shoutout to The Boo-Tique in Conyers, GA where I have some of my work. The wonderful women there have also become beloved friends, and are always there for a helpful & kind word for all visitors. It is the best Metaphysical shop in the area.
Much love to you all. Everyone I mentioned above has made me finally feel like my son and I have a family here.
