Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalyn Farmer.
Hi Kalyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kalyn Farmer, but most people know me as The Rock Queen. I’m a band manager, booking agent, social media manager, and co-host of the Sound Injection Podcast.
I got my start simply because I loved music. Growing up, music was always an escape for me through some of life’s hardest moments. My mom always encouraged us to be ourselves, dream big, and express who we were. That passion eventually turned into helping local bands with social media, promotions, and booking shows. One opportunity led to another, and before I knew it, I was managing artists and working with Massive Media to help independent musicians grow their careers.
I’ve always been drawn to rock and metal because I connect with the emotion and the stories behind the music. I also love horror, darker aesthetics, and anything a little outside the norm. I’ve learned that being different is one of my greatest strengths, and I’ve built my career by staying true to who I am.
Outside of music, I’m a proud mom of four amazing kids—Kael, Dixie, Motley, and our newest addition, baby Maddox. They inspire me every day to keep chasing my dreams and to show them that with hard work, consistency, and determination, anything is possible.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: help artists succeed, build genuine relationships, and give independent musicians the opportunities they deserve.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road at first. Being the new female on the block, I felt like I had to work twice as hard to prove that I deserved a place in the music industry. It shouldn’t be that way, but unfortunately, that was part of my experience.
I had to push through the doubts, the setbacks, and the people who didn’t take me seriously. I’m not someone who gives up easily, so instead of letting it stop me, I used it as motivation. I worked hard, built relationships, gained the trust of other industry professionals, and started breaking ground through booking, management, and helping artists move forward.
Those struggles made me stronger and helped shape the way I work today. I learned that consistency, determination, and showing up for people will eventually speak louder than anyone’s doubts.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Massive Media MS is a full-service artist management and marketing company dedicated to helping musicians grow their careers. We offer artist management, booking, tour routing, social media management, public relations, radio promotion, branding, graphic design, music video production, sponsorship opportunities, and marketing campaigns.
We also operate Massive Media Radio, giving independent artists additional exposure through airplay, interviews, and media opportunities.
Our mission is simple: to help artists be seen, heard, and remembered while providing the tools and support they need to succeed.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Absolutely. I love learning from other industry professionals because this business is always evolving. Our own Massive Media Radio has become a great resource for discovering independent artists and staying connected with the music scene, and I also co-host the Sound Injection Podcast, where we have conversations with musicians and industry professionals that provide valuable insight. More than anything, I believe networking, listening, and never stopping learning are some of the best resources you can have in this industry.
