Inspiring Conversations with Natasha Blair of Naki Properties

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Blair.

Hi Natasha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My husband and I founded Naki Properties in 2018 with a vision of acquiring, rehabbing, and building residential properties. Before launching the company, I spent 17 years building a career in technology, leading business analysis, operations, and process improvement initiatives. While technology may seem very different from real estate and hospitality, it gave me a strong foundation in systems, problem-solving, customer experience, and scaling businesses, skills that have proven invaluable throughout my entrepreneurial journey.

Like many entrepreneurs, we started with one vision but remained open to new opportunities as the market evolved. As we became more involved in real estate, we entered the short-term rental space and quickly saw the demand for professionally managed accommodations that offered more than just a place to stay. What began as managing our own properties soon grew into managing properties for others.

Over time, we realized we were doing much more than property management. We were creating experiences. That shift in perspective led us to transform Naki Properties from a real estate-focused company into a hospitality brand centered around comfort, service, and thoughtful design.

Today, Naki Properties specializes in luxury short-term and mid-term accommodations, corporate housing, relocation services, production housing, and curated guest experiences throughout Metro Atlanta. As a licensed Realtor, I also help individuals and families relocate, invest, and navigate the Atlanta market, which naturally complements our hospitality and housing services.

Looking back, our journey has been one of continuous evolution—from real estate development, to short-term rentals, to property management, and now hospitality. What began as a husband-and-wife business has grown into a company that creates opportunities for property owners, provides memorable stays for guests, and contributes to Atlanta’s growing hospitality landscape.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success often comes from being willing to adapt. Our original vision was real estate development, but by staying open to new opportunities and focusing on serving people well, we’ve built something even greater than we initially imagined.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road.

When my husband and I started Naki Properties, we honestly didn’t know what we didn’t know. We rented an apartment and started operating it as a short-term rental. We were excited about the opportunity, but we hadn’t fully learned the rules, regulations, and complexities of the industry. Eventually, we were asked to leave, and that experience was a tough lesson.

But during that time, I discovered something that would change the trajectory of my career. I fell in love with hospitality. I loved connecting with guests, hearing their stories, and receiving messages from people who genuinely enjoyed staying in our space. Seeing the impact we could have on someone’s travel experience made me realize this was something worth pursuing.

Instead of giving up, we got to work. We spent countless hours researching, learning the industry, understanding regulations, and building a real business. We were determined that when the next opportunity came, we would be prepared.

That opportunity came in the form of a new building, and from there things began to grow. We expanded from one unit to six units, then nine units, continuing to learn and improve along the way. Just when we felt like we had gained momentum, COVID hit.

Like many businesses in hospitality, we were faced with a major challenge. A significant portion of our business came from corporate travelers and production crews because of our locations in Atlanta. Suddenly, people stopped traveling, productions slowed down, and the future felt uncertain. We had to make difficult decisions, including allowing many of our leases to expire rather than renewing them. We scaled back, focused on protecting the business, and figured out how to survive during one of the most challenging periods our industry had ever seen.

Ironically, one of our biggest opportunities came during that difficult season. Property owners saw what we had built and how we operated, and one owner approached us about managing their property. That opportunity introduced us to property management and opened an entirely new chapter for the company.

Looking back, every challenge taught us something valuable. Being forced to learn the industry made us better operators. Surviving COVID made us more resilient. And taking on management clients ultimately helped transform Naki Properties from a short-term rental business into the hospitality company it is today. The road certainly wasn’t smooth, but every obstacle helped shape who we are and where we’re headed.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Naki Properties is a hospitality company that specializes in luxury short-term rentals, mid-term rentals, corporate housing, relocation services, and property management throughout Metro Atlanta. While many people initially view us as a property management company, we see ourselves as a hospitality brand first.

What sets us apart is our focus on creating experiences rather than simply providing accommodations. We believe guests should feel the same level of comfort, service, and attention to detail that they would receive at a boutique hotel while still enjoying the space, privacy, and warmth of a home. Every property we manage is thoughtfully designed and curated to deliver a memorable experience, whether someone is staying for a weekend, several months, or relocating to Atlanta.

Over the years, we’ve expanded beyond traditional vacation rentals to serve a wide range of clients, including corporate travelers, relocating professionals and families, insurance-displacement guests, healthcare professionals, production crews, and real estate clients. As a licensed Realtor, I’m also able to help clients navigate the Atlanta market, creating a seamless experience for those moving to or investing in the area.

One thing we’re particularly known for is our ability to bridge the gap between real estate and hospitality. We don’t just help property owners maximize revenue—we help them create properties that guests want to return to and recommend to others. Our approach is rooted in hospitality, wellness, thoughtful design, and exceptional service.

What I’m most proud of is the evolution of our brand. We started with a vision of real estate development, grew into short-term rentals, expanded into property management, and ultimately became a hospitality company. Along the way, we’ve created jobs, built strong relationships with property owners and partners, and welcomed thousands of guests from around the world.

Community impact is also an important part of who we are. As we’ve grown, we’ve been intentional about creating opportunities for others through employment, partnerships with local businesses and service providers, and by supporting Atlanta’s growing economy through tourism, relocation, and corporate housing. We believe that hospitality extends beyond the walls of a property, it includes the people and communities we serve.

If there’s one thing I’d like readers to know, it’s that Naki Properties is about more than accommodations. Our mission is to create spaces where people can rest, reconnect, celebrate, work, heal, and feel at home, whether they’re visiting Atlanta for a few days or building a life here for years to come. We are building a brand centered on hospitality, community, and creating meaningful experiences that leave a lasting impact long after a guest checks out.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to choose one quality that has contributed most to my success, it would be resilience.

Entrepreneurship is full of unexpected challenges, and my journey has certainly had its share. From learning the short-term rental industry through trial and error, to navigating the uncertainty of COVID, to continuously evolving our business model over the years, there have been many moments when giving up would have been the easier option. Instead, I’ve learned to adapt, keep learning, and keep moving forward.

I believe resilience goes hand in hand with a willingness to evolve. The business we operate today is very different from the one my husband and I originally envisioned when we started Naki Properties. Rather than resisting change, we’ve embraced it and looked for opportunities in every challenge.

Another characteristic that has served me well is my commitment to continuous learning. Coming from a 17-year career in technology, I’ve always believed that there is a solution to every problem if you’re willing to do the research, ask questions, and stay curious. That mindset has helped me build systems, scale operations, and navigate industries that were completely new to me.

Ultimately, I think success comes from being willing to figure it out. You don’t have to know everything when you start, but you have to be willing to learn, adapt, and keep going when things don’t go according to plan.
