Inspiring Conversations with Paris Monet of The Pink Playhouse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Monet.

Hi Paris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hey everyone!
My name is Paris Monet, and I’m a makeup artist, entrepreneur, and the founder of The Pink Playhouse. My journey honestly started from a place of wanting more for myself and realizing that creativity was one of the few things that made me feel truly confident and free.

I grew up in Atlanta in a single-mother household. My sister and I were privileged to have what we needed, but I did not always get what I wanted. My “wants” really sparked a drive in me at a young age. My grandmother also played a huge role in shaping who I am today. She was incredibly hardworking and intentional about keeping me involved in leadership programs, church activities, community organizations, and spaces that would help me grow. She instilled values in me at a very young age that shaped my leadership, communication skills, and passion for making an impact in the lives of others, which helped shape my passion for people, communication, and creating safe spaces for women.

Before becoming a full-time entrepreneur, I worked as a corrections officer and a server at a hotel. I used the income from my job to while build my business on the side. I worked an insane amount of overtime. During my time as a C.O., I worked about 25-28 days a month doing 16 hour shifts. I used those funds to invest into makeup classes, products, branding, photography, website development, pop-up shops, and every opportunity I could find to grow. There were a lot of moments where I had to bet on myself, even while I was learning as I go.

In 2014, I created The Pink Playhouse with the vision of building more than just a beauty brand. We are a haven for women, a space where people could feel beautiful, expressive, confident, and safe enough to reconnect with themselves. Beauty has always been deeper than makeup for me. It’s about confidence, healing, self-expression, and the beauty of transformation.

Over the years, I’ve continued growing as both an artist, educator, and content creator, using my platform to share not only beauty tutorials and products, but also the raw realities of entrepreneurship, mental pressure, self-growth, and navigating life as a Black woman in business. I think people connect with me because I try to show both the polished moments and the raw moments that life bring.

Today, I’m grateful to work with large and growing brands, expand my business, create content, and continue building a community centered around beauty, wellness, authenticity, and empowerment. I’ve come so far in my journey, but I have so much more to go. We’re evolving, and every season has taught me something new about resilience, faith, and believing in my vision even before anyone else can see it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurship is most definitely not a smooth road, but every challenge is helping shape me into the Business Woman I am today. One of the biggest struggles was learning how to believe in myself and my visions before other people can see it. Building a business takes a lot of faith, consistency, and sacrifice, especially when you’re funding everything yourself and trying to navigate entrepreneurship without a blueprint.

There are moments where I feet exhausted trying to balance operating a business with purpose and survival mode. I’ve also struggled with self-doubt, burnout, and the pressure that can come with entrepreneurship and social media. Sometimes people only see the glamorous and fun results, but they don’t see the long nights, disappointments, financial risks, and emotional weight behind building something from the ground up.

Another challenge was learning to separate myself from environments and people that no longer aligned with my growth. As I evolved, I had to become more intentional about protecting my peace, staying focused, and surrounding myself with people who inspire and push me forward.

Even through the difficult moments, I’ve continued to trust God, stay committed to my vision, and remind myself why I started in the first place. Every setback has taught me resilience, and every challenge has strengthened my passion for creating spaces where women feel empowered, confident, and seen.

We’ve been impressed with The Pink Playhouse, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the C.E.O. of The Pink Playhouse, a beauty and lifestyle brand created to be more than just a makeup business. Since launching, my vision has always been to create a space where women feel confident, expressive, empowered, and safe enough to embrace who they are both inside and out.

As a makeup artist, I specialize in enhancing natural beauty while creating luxury experiences that make women feel seen, confident, and celebrated. At The Pink Playhouse, we offer professional makeup services and products for special events, photoshoots, and everyday glam while also creating beauty education content that helps women feel empowered through makeup and self-expression. I’m also proud to offer products through The Pink Playhouse Cosmetics, including items designed to make women feel bold, feminine, and confident, such as my glitter lipstick, Diamond Kisses.

As a content creator, I’m passionate about sharing authentic and relatable experiences that go beyond beauty. I create content centered around wellness, mental health, entrepreneurship, lifestyle, and personal growth. Whether I’m sharing parts of my weight loss journey, navigating life as an entrepreneur, collaborating with brands, or simply encouraging women to prioritize themselves, I always want my content to feel honest, impactful, and inspiring.

What sets me apart is the heart behind my brand. Beauty has never been surface-level for me. I truly believe makeup can be transformative, not just physically, but emotionally as well. I’ve built my platform around authenticity, creativity, and community, which allows people to connect with me beyond just the final look. As I play in makeup, virtually or in person, I always want people to leave feeling inspired, confident, and encouraged.

I’m especially proud of the community and opportunities that The Pink Playhouse has created over the years. From starting with pop-up shops and self-funded investments to collaborating with brands, every step of the journey has been built with passion, resilience, and faith. I’m proud that people trust me not only as an artist, but as someone who genuinely cares about helping women feel beautiful and empowered.

I want readers to know that The Pink Playhouse is rooted in creativity, self-expression, wellness, and confidence. It’s a brand that celebrates growth, femininity, authenticity, and the idea that beauty should feel empowering, not intimidating.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My biggest advice for finding a mentor and networking in general is to focus on genuine connection, not just opportunity. The most meaningful relationships I’ve built in my career didn’t come from asking someone to “mentor” me right away, but from showing up consistently, supporting others, and building real relationships over time.

What has worked well for me is being intentional about the spaces I’m in. I regularly attend pop-ups, networking mixers, and community gatherings where I can meet like-minded creatives and entrepreneurs. I also make it a point to engage with people online in a real way by commenting, sharing support, and building rapport without ever asking for anything in return.

Another key part of networking for me has been leading with value. Whether it’s my skill as a makeup artist, my creativity as a content creator, or simply offering encouragement, I try to show people what I bring to the table naturally. I’ve learned that when people see your consistency, passion, and integrity, opportunities and mentors form organically.

Most importantly, I’ve learned that mentorship doesn’t always have to be formal. Some of the best guidance I’ve received has come from observing people I admire, asking thoughtful questions when the opportunity presents itself, and staying open to learning in every room I enter. I believe when you move with authenticity and purpose, the right people naturally align with your journey.
