Inspiring Conversations with Terell (Sec’k) Connor of The Hello Effect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terell (Sec’k) Connor.

Hi Sec’k, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Terell “Sec’k” Connor, creator and host of The Hello Effect Podcast. My journey started with a passion for music, storytelling, and connecting with people. Growing up in New Jersey, I was always surrounded by music and creativity. I spent years as an artist, songwriter, and producer, learning the industry from the ground up while building relationships and trying to find my place in the culture.

The idea for The Hello Effect came from wanting to create a platform that gave independent artists, entrepreneurs, creators, and community leaders a voice. I noticed that many talented people were being overlooked simply because they didn’t have access to major media outlets. Instead of waiting for opportunities, I decided to create one myself.

What started as a simple idea quickly turned into a growing media platform. There were plenty of challenges in the beginning. I was learning how to interview, film, edit, market content, and build an audience all at the same time. Through trial and error, consistency, faith, and support from my team, The Hello Effect continued to grow.

Today, I’ve had the opportunity to interview artists, entrepreneurs, politicians, and industry professionals from all over the country. The platform has expanded into live events, community activations, music showcases, and streaming opportunities. Beyond entertainment, my goal has always been to inspire, educate, and create opportunities for others.

Looking back, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that success comes from staying consistent, believing in your vision, and being willing to learn as you go. The journey is still unfolding, but I’m grateful for every person who has supported The Hello Effect and helped make it what it is today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs and creatives, I’ve faced my share of challenges. One of the biggest struggles was building The Hello Effect from the ground up with limited resources. In the beginning, I was wearing multiple hats at once—host, producer, cameraman, editor, marketer, and business owner. There were plenty of long nights, mistakes, and moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough.

Another challenge was getting people to take the platform seriously. When you’re starting something new, not everyone sees the vision right away. There were times when I had to continue showing up and putting in the work even when the numbers weren’t where I wanted them to be or when opportunities didn’t come as quickly as I hoped.

Financially, investing in equipment, software, travel, events, and production costs can be overwhelming, especially when you’re funding much of it yourself. There is also the challenge of balancing family, business, and personal growth while trying to stay creative and consistent.

What helped me push through was my faith, my passion for helping others, and my belief that the platform could create opportunities for people who deserve to be seen and heard. Every setback became a lesson. Every challenge taught me something about leadership, patience, and perseverance.

Today, when I look at how far The Hello Effect has come—from an idea to interviewing notable artists, entrepreneurs, and community leaders—I realize the struggles were part of the process. They helped shape both me and the platform into what we are today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Hello Effect?

One of the things I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. The Hello Effect has grown from a simple idea into a trusted platform that people genuinely want to be a part of. We’ve expanded beyond interviews into live experiences, networking opportunities, music showcases, and collaborations that bring creatives together in real life.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to choose one quality that has contributed most to my success, it would be consistency. Talent, connections, and opportunities are important, but none of them matter if you aren’t willing to keep showing up and putting in the work.

When I started The Hello Effect, I didn’t have all the answers. I was learning how to interview, film, edit, market content, and build a brand in real time. There were moments when growth felt slow and challenges seemed overwhelming, but I made a commitment to stay consistent regardless of the results. That consistency helped me improve my skills, build relationships, and earn the trust of both guests and supporters.

I also believe consistency is closely tied to resilience. There will always be obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. The ability to keep moving forward, adapt, and learn from those experiences has been critical to my journey. Every challenge has taught me something valuable and helped me become a better leader, creator, and entrepreneur.

Above all, my faith has played a major role in helping me remain consistent. It has given me the confidence to keep pursuing my vision even when the outcome wasn’t immediately clear.

Success rarely happens overnight. It’s built through small actions repeated over time. That’s a lesson I’ve learned firsthand, and it’s something I try to apply to every aspect of my life and business.
