Inspiring Conversations with Tiffany Garrett of Carrington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Garrett.

Hi Tiffany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Queens, NY, raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. Youngest of 4. From the age of 8, I dreamed of being an entrepreneur. My father was a big-time business owner who lived in New York my entire life, and I had it set to be just like him when I grew up. I was born an artist, which I can thank my mother for. As a kid, I watched my sisters learn and grow through the world, and I took closely to my sister Brittany, who was a photographer and artist — the closest sense of inspiration I had to just get started.

With a mixture of a knack for artistry and making money from what I was exposed to, I began my pursuit into the world. I started as early as 8 or 9, hustling my grandparents into letting me do their nails while I spent my off days from school at their house. Outside of “daddy money,” this was the most consistent source of income I had in elementary school. Then I went on to replicate pictures I would find in my sister’s room — took pictures of myself and started drawing self-portraits.

Then, right before I was of age to get a workers permit, I started spending my summers in NY working with my dad and bringing home back-to-school money. Safe to say I got addicted to making my own money, and for the next couple of years it was off to the races. I started doing nails, selling hair, doing lashes, selling lashes — whatever else I could get my hands on in an attempt to out-hustle my dad.

By the time I turned 18, I decided to take it up a notch and pursue a career in finance and digital marketing, building websites and running ecommerce. This landed me in Miami pursuing all of the digital businesses I could think of. After only a year, I decided I was being called to NY at the age of 24 to be more hands-on in my creative lane and more in touch with a community that looked and felt like me.
Since my move, I’ve launched my brand development company, CARRINGTON. We’ve been hands-on working with fashion brand owners and entrepreneurs — leading campaign production, brand strategy, and strategic partnerships. This is where I am currently, feeling fulfilled and in alignment with purpose until my heart tells me otherwise.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m a college dropout turned business owner. Everything is relatively ‘hard.’ Along the way, I’ve found it challenging to stick to one career path. Since there’s a negative connotation towards people who don’t choose to continue their formal education, I made a promise to myself to never stop learning — and I learn rather quickly.

Over the span of 8 years, I’ve learned sales, web development, social media marketing, production, Facebook ads, creative strategy, business scaling, trading — and that’s not where the list ends. Knowing all of these skills can keep you in a constant loop of not knowing what to pursue 100%, because you have skill in all of them. I could be successful focusing fully on any and all of them.

However, I’ve chosen not to choose. Being multi-talented in artistry and in skill puts you in a jack-of-all-trades category. In hindsight, the naysayers will say “master of none.” But my purpose in life isn’t to master one thing — it’s to dabble and experience it all.

The hardest part is really charging your worth when the scope of your expertise is so vast and the economy or your familiar circle may not support it.

As a proud water sign, I don’t believe my desire in life is stability, but rather exploration — so that I never have to wonder, ‘what if?'”

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about CARRINGTON?
My business is called CARRINGTON. It started as just an LLC that I knew one day would be legendary — so legendary, I named it after myself. We are a brand development agency that works primarily with fashion brand owners, helping them with brand identity, community building, and creating scalable infrastructures. On the outside, this looks like polished campaigns that get media coverage and sold-out drops. On the inside, it looks like strategy meetings about brand audits, positioning, and increased revenue.

We’re known for narrative building through launch campaigns and event production — merging our clients’ brand identity and ethos into every monumental moment they create. That’s what we do best.

I am most proud of the way our clients’ audiences digest their brands after we cross paths and work our magic. I’ve worked with so many unique and interesting brand owners that I’m always sharpening my skills, learning from their wins and losses, and being sure to pivot and treat every brand as its own individual entity that deserves its own care. It’s been a privilege to work with such talented creatives along the way.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
We are always looking for partners to help activate alongside our clients so we can continue to spread their message to larger audiences.

For brand partnerships, we are currently only working with business owners generating over $1M in annual revenue. If you meet this criteria and are ready to expand through strategic partnerships and retail placement, you can reach us at partnerships@bycarrington.com.

For brands looking for campaign production or brand strategy assistance, please contact hello@bycarrington.com for all inquiries and we will be in touch.
