Inspiring Conversations with Vanessa Hardiman of Boss Kidz Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Hardiman.

Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Before launching Boss Kidz Inc., I spent years building my career in corporate America with organizations such as General Motors, UPS, and Sheraton. Those experiences gave me a strong foundation in leadership, strategy, operations, and relationship building.

As I progressed in my career, I realized that many young people lacked access to the practical skills, mentorship, and opportunities needed to successfully transition into the workforce. I also recognized that not every student follows the same path. Some students need to work while attending school, while others may not connect with traditional youth programs or learning environments.

That realization led me to create Boss Kidz Inc. in 2022. I wanted to build the type of organization I wish had existed when I was growing up, one that prepares young people for leadership, financial independence, and career success through real-world experiences. Today, we have grown into an organization that has served more than 17,000 participants.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any startup, we’ve faced challenges. Building a nonprofit requires funding, partnerships, trust, and patience. There have been moments where resources were limited and growth seemed slow. However, every challenge taught me how to be more strategic, more resilient, and more focused on our mission. Looking back, every obstacle was worth it because of the impact we’re making in the lives of young people.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Boss Kidz Inc.?
Boss Kidz Inc., founded in 2022, is a workforce development and leadership organization dedicated to preparing high school and college students for long-term career success. Our mission is to inspire students, especially those who might feel disconnected from traditional school environments, by providing a creative, hands-on space to learn professional skills centered around the business world.

We specialize in practical education and are known for offering a complete, holistic ecosystem through our six core pillars:

– Business Consulting: We expose students to real-world consulting practices, including problem-solving, strategic planning, and professional presentation skills. Students actually engage directly with clients, gaining in-field experience by providing services and solutions in real workplace environments.

– STEM Kids: We host hands-on technology workshops focusing on the future of work, specifically Robotics, Virtual Reality Coding, and Cyber Security.

– Making Money Matter: Through monthly programs, workshops, and seminars, we heavily emphasize financial literacy, banking, and investing.

– Future Business Leaders of Tomorrow: These workshops provide comprehensive training on how to properly set up and run a business, diving deep into effective branding and marketing techniques.

– Internships and Apprenticeships: Our Boss Kidz Inc. Ambassador program is designed to offer students paid, hands-on experience in the business world. Crucially, we are now an approved Registered Apprenticeship Program through the U.S. Department of Labor for Digital Marketing, a significant milestone that allows students to obtain highly regulated, practical skills by working closely with established entrepreneurs.

– Business Networking: We actively connect students with entrepreneurs, leaders, and industry partners. This provides crucial exposure to diverse career pathways through job shadowing, on-the-job training, and mentorship to promote long-term success.

Social media and digital communication are at the center of how today’s generation learns, connects, and explores career opportunities. Rather than ignoring that reality, we leverage peer-to-peer learning, podcasts (like Boss Kidz Talk), college mentors, and hands-on experiences that make learning genuinely relevant and engaging for them.

What truly sets us apart is our student-driven, profit-sharing model. We don’t just teach business theory; we let students live it.

We provide them with training to open their own checking, savings, or investment accounts at participating financial institutions. By providing paid opportunities and actual school credit, we bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the measurable confidence and transformation we see in our youth. Whether a student is conducting an interview on our podcast or leading a strategic planning meeting with a real client, we are giving them a real seat at the table. I’m incredibly proud that our brand has become synonymous with action. By equipping students with practical business knowledge and real earning opportunities, we are actively reducing anxiety and keeping young people on a productive, ambitious path. We have a 90% program completion rate.

I want your readers to know that Boss Kidz Inc. is building the leaders of tomorrow, right now, but we can’t do it alone. We are actively seeking partnerships with organizations interested in hiring our students, supporting apprenticeship opportunities, sponsoring programs, or utilizing our workforce development and business services.

We offer immersive learning experiences through business tours, summer camps, and youth conferences, and we rely on community collaboration. If you are a business professional, educator, or organization in the Atlanta area (or beyond) that supports youth entrepreneurship, we would love to partner with you to help us expand our chapters nationally and internationally.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that growth should be intentional; bigger does not always mean better. Sustainable success comes from being strategic, building strong partnerships, and focusing on quality over quantity.

I’ve also learned the importance of surrounding yourself with talented people who share your values and vision, because no one builds something meaningful alone. We’re living in a world that is changing rapidly, and through it all, I’ve learned the importance of having faith, being patient, praying often, and always striving to do the right thing. My advice to others is to stay focused on your purpose, remain adaptable, and never lose sight of why you started. Success isn’t about keeping up with everyone else, it’s about creating meaningful impact.
