We recently had the chance to connect with Jacob Battaglia and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Jacob, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Spending time with my 4 month old baby boy named Adam.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I started One Way Painting in 2021 to establish long-lasting relationships with clients, provide excellent craftsmanship and give them an experience that is unique. I believe every homeowner should love their home, and we are so thrilled every time we can help make that happen for our customers.
Our focus is the experience the customer has from start to finish with our team. Countless times we hear from homeowners who have had contractors never show up, ghost them, provide quality of work that is embarrassing, and even steal from them.
Every time a homeowner has work performed in their home there’s potential for a fantastic experience or a disaster. That’s why from the initial phone call, to the on-site estimate, to the work being performed, to following up after a project our main priority is to ensure that our customer has the best experience possible. We accomplish this through consistently and clear communication, attention to detail, care for our customers and their home, and doing what we say we will do… every time.
The reviews ours customers give us motivate and excite us for each new opportunity to provide an amazing experience with One Way Painting.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I learned the most about work from my father and my older brothers. I’m the youngest of 10 kids, with 7 older brothers. Growing up, we were all involved in projects around the house and the family construction business. My Father always exemplified a strong work ethic, honesty and problem solving.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, many! Business ownership is many times a difficult journey. And oftentimes a lonely one also. There have been multiple points this year alone that I almost shut the doors to my business. But each of those times I came back to my founding purpose that came from God, and so because of my faith I continue on, pursuing the purpose from above.
In those difficult times I have learned to be vulnerable and receive help from those around me. This has opened doors in some very unique ways.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
By maintain consistency. Every time a company comes in and bids on a job half the cost of me, there’s a tendency to doubt and fear. But I know that in the long run, the foundation of my company is the honesty and integrity that we have worked so hard to build and this will attract great customers who are not focused on the cheapest price.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I’m playing the long game in business… my team comes first if there’s not enough money in the bank account, spending time developing my team both personally and professionally.
There’s many aspects of this that play towards the long term.
