Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Cedric Hill of South Atlanta

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Cedric Hill. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Cedric , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
“Many times I think we all face that ‘I gotta have it now’ syndrome. But with growth, I learned that creating something great takes time. I remember early on when I was rushing to drop a project, thinking speed meant success — but slowing down actually opened doors I didn’t see before. It’s crazy because not moving too fast can sometimes save your life, or your peace, and it can prepare you for the abundance that’s waiting. So when it finally comes, you know exactly what to do with it.”

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“My name’s Cedric Hill — a creative and visionary at heart. I’m the founder of Respect The Culture (RTC), a clothing line built around self-expression, resilience, and pride in where you come from. It’s more than fashion; it’s a statement — a reminder to move with purpose and never forget your roots.

Alongside that, I run TrueMind Records, a label I built to give independent artists a real voice and platform. I wanted to create a space where creativity isn’t boxed in — where artists can tell their stories freely, through sound, visuals, and fashion. Everything I’m doing connects — the music, the clothing, the visuals — it’s all a reflection of the same mission: inspiring people to own their truth and chase legacy, not just clout.

Right now, I’m gearing up for the release of my new single, “Different,” which ties everything together — the energy of RTC, the spirit of TrueMind, and the story of growth and grit that built both. It’s about turning pain into purpose and creating something that lasts. Every move I make, whether it’s in music, business, or fashion, is part of a bigger vision — building an empire that represents real stories, real emotion, and real culture.”

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
“As a music artist, chasing your dream is special in itself. But along that road, you face a lot of obstacles — moments that test your faith, your patience, and your purpose. I’ve had my highs and lows, but the moment that really shaped how I see the world was when I realized God never left me, even through the darkest times. He’s been rocking with me when others turned away. That changed everything for me — it reminded me who’s really in control. From then on, I learned to keep my circle small, trust the process, and let faith lead the way.”

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“I’d probably just tell my younger self, ‘Don’t worry — I promise it’s all gonna make sense later on.’ Because back then, I didn’t realize every struggle, every delay, and every loss was shaping the person I’d become. Now I see that everything I went through had purpose, even the pain. It was all part of the process that led me here.”

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
“A cultural value I protect at all costs is authenticity. Where I come from, being real means everything — it’s the foundation of respect. I never want to lose that just to fit in or chase a trend. Whether it’s in music, business, or fashion, I move with the same energy I started with — staying true to myself, my people, and the message behind what I build. Because when you move with authenticity, your impact lasts longer than any moment of fame ever could.”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
“If I laid everything down — the name, the title, the possessions — what would remain is my dignity and my drive. At the end of the day, I’m a man first, and that means standing on respect, integrity, and vision. Ambition has always been in me, but I learned that everything starts with a vision. Take away the material things, and I’d still be creating, still believing, still pushing to build something meaningful. Because what really lasts is the impact you leave on people, not what you own.”
