Chucki Love shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Chucki, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What battle are you avoiding?
I believe I’m battling fear of fame. Being well known isn’t what it was when I was growing up, and now-a-days, being too famous comes with so much and I’m not sure if that, even though I’m capable of dealing with the public eye, I’m not sure I want my family to be subjected to it too. Times are wild and I just want to protect them, because everyone knows I can talk crazy at any moment.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a comedian/actor/guitarist/writer/multimedia producer who is finally coming from behind the camera and producing his own first music album that accompanies his live comedy stand-up show. I’m on YouTube almost everyday live working on this project, where I look to develop an organic fanbase.
I’m unique because of my talent. My experiences and background provide and represents a life that many would relate to. andI look to share what I know and feel to try and help along our life journeys.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I had a lot of early wins so I grew up thinking that everything was easy and everything came to me with ease. I didn’t develop strong study/work habits because I didn’t have to do much to get what I wanted. It was never difficult for me to excel in things so it was easy for meta take things for granted. It wasn’t until I wasn’t older and starting taking some losses before I released that nothing is guaranteed, and I didn’t work for, or earn, I wouldn’t get. I no longer believe it’s just going to be handed to me. It’s been a difficult shift in the way I approach life, something that I’m still working on today.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Oh yeah definitely. Only once though. During the pandemic, I had just got back to Atlanta from struggling in LA and when I got back, I fell into romantic heartbreak haha. I ended up leaving that situationship with such low self-esteem and confidence that I don’t think I was very funny nor fun to be around. At the same time, I had a lot of time on my hands to watch social media and read things that disgusted me about Hollywood. I began to question if it was even worth continuing my pursuit of mainstream industry success. I came to the conclusion that I am who I am, an entertainer/artist, and I have already dedicated my life to this thing, so let’s just keep going, except now success looks more like earning a solid and supportive fanbase that I can simply earn a living from to take care of my family.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is Chucki, the extroverted, energetic, funny version of the real me, Charles is the private version of me. Actually quite the opposite of Chucki, and they aren’t in combat with each other either, one is just who you get depending on if I’m in a private or public situation or circumstance. when I was younger, there was no Charles!
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Bullshittin’.
