Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Darius Tigner-Jackson

We recently had the chance to connect with Darius Tigner-Jackson and have shared our conversation below.

Darius, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Singing is more than a hobby for me; it’s a calling. I cherish the opportunity to minister through music with my choirs at Antioch Baptist Church North and The Victorious Army Atlanta. Using the gift/instrument God gave me brings me immense pleasure and purpose. Equally important to me is serving in the community by volunteering with various organizations and actively giving back.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Mr. Darius Tigner-Jackson, born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia on April 19th. A native born at the Historic Grady Memorial Hospital and raised in the WestEnd Historic Community, a handsome baby boy to the proud parents of Mr. Jacques and Ms. Cheryl Denise.

I am a dynamic Philanthropist and Community Ambassador with a professional background in Human Resources, Workforce Development, and Non-Profit Volunteer Management. As an experienced recruiter, a professionally trained headhunter and career coach who has put together hundreds of teams with thousands of applicants over the years. What I love is being a team player, problem solver, creating a secure and processed environment and treating customers/clients, as I would like to be treated

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I was fortunate to be raised by my grandmother, Gloria Tigner, who passed on January 22, 2024. She taught me two powerful lessons: first, the necessity of a great work ethic, and second, how vital it is to turn your passion into your career. I feel her presence daily as I apply everything she taught me, from starting the day by giving God praise to practicing gratitude for what I have instead of focusing on what I lack.

Currently I serve as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Eligibility Specialist for WorkSource Fulton / Equus Workforce Solutions under Fulton County.

President Barack Obama signed WIOA into law on July 22, 2014. WIOA is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. WIOA pays training costs not covered by the HOPE Scholarship Program as well as provides funding for tools, uniforms, licensing exams, etc. Up to $5000.00 the first year and $3000.00 the second year for a total of $8000.00 may be available for training at designated schools in certain demand occupations.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I miss my beautiful daughter, Lailah Monea’ Jackson, every single day since she gained her wings on June 3rd, 2019. The journey from seeing her and hearing her heartbeat to having to lay her to rest was truly one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to endure. I constantly wonder what she would be like now. I miss her sense of humor and remember just how beautiful she was. She is always in my thoughts.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would tell you that the cornerstones of my life are my relationship with God, loyalty, respect, and family.

My faith is truly vital to my daily life. Knowing that God knows me and cares for me is what anchors me every morning. For me, loyalty is the heart of trust—it’s key to being a dependable person. Respect is everything; I believe that if you can’t respect yourself, you can’t genuinely respect anyone else. Lastly, I’m fiercely family-oriented. I love them to pieces! They keep me grounded and show me every day that love is an action word.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Above all else, I hope people know this about me: I cared deeply and I showed love to everyone. I gave love freely and did everything in my power to help. That meant giving people resources and showing them they always have options— I always strove to help by providing resources and demonstrating that they have other options—a Plan B, C, or D—so they never feel stuck. Remember to know your self-worth and take charge of your life. Darius, with his great spirit and strong sense of purpose, certainly embodied this.”
