We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jen Vasquez. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Jen, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
This is a tricky question, because integrity is non-negotiable for me. Without it, nothing else really matters. But if I have to pick the one I’m most conscious of managing every single day, it’s energy.
Energy is in my world all day long—what’s coming at me, what I’m letting in, and what I’m putting out. I’m constantly deciding which energy to invite in and which to gently push away. I’m also very intentional about the energy I’m radiating. And I do mean radiating—it’s a very real thing. How do people feel when they’re around me? Do they feel seen, encouraged, lifted up…or diminished?
I believe we’re all connected through energy, and I even have a small tattoo on my arm as a reminder of that interconnectedness. So while integrity is the foundation, energy is the force that shapes every interaction and experience I have with others.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a 51-year-old *new* entrepreneur—proof that it’s never too late to bet on yourself. After 30 years in corporate, I’m parlaying all that experience into building a real estate business I can one day leave as a legacy for my kids. I’m heading into my third year in 2026 and just wrapped up my business planning period. It’s been a season of deep reflection—seeing how far I’ve come and how much further I want to go to reach the level of greatness I’m chasing.
At the heart of it, it’s really about people. My business is built on relationships—people who naturally gravitate to me and people I feel drawn to serve. I’ve never felt this fulfilled in such a short amount of time. I get to set the direction, pause and iterate, break it down and build it back up—my brand, my purpose, my intention, and the way I want my clients to experience me. And honestly, that’s pretty cool.
This upcoming year is about scaling the business in ways I wasn’t sure were possible a year ago. I’m expecting big things, and I have an even bigger belief system behind it—grounded in affirmations, gratitude, and prayer. That foundation is at the core of who I am and is the guiding light for everything I’m building.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I struggled in school and with self-confidence. I had very few teachers who truly believed in me—most did more discouraging than encouraging. It took a toll and probably kept me from going after certain things. But it also made me gritty.
My freshman year of high school, my typing teacher encouraged me to join Future Business Leaders of America, and that was a game changer. By sophomore year, my world history teacher took a genuine interest in me. He believed in my ability and pushed me to see myself differently.
Then my freshman English teacher came along and completely stretched me as a writer. She saw real potential and pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of. That’s where I learned to be vulnerable and to lean into authentic storytelling.
From there, I started to soar in new ways academically. Would I ever say I’m the smartest person in the room? Not a chance. But no one is going to outwork me. Those early challenges helped shape my grit—and that grit has served me incredibly well in both work and life.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Its simple…..this too shall pass. I have never had a season of life that lasted perpetually. The good ones and the hard ones. If your going to go through, grow through it and when the sun is shining on you…..bask in it. Don’t take life so seriously and know that this too shall pass…….would have removed a lot of unnecessary stress and anxiety that caused me not to live in that moment. I am trying to teach my kids the art of this so they don’t lose time embracing life!
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
This is a very interesting question. I see it in the media and it actually hurts my heart. There are so many people who want to be the smartest people in the room, but it is their way or the highway. The righteousness is out of control and peoples inability to want to hear other points of view is painful to watch. I believe we all grow when we learn, even if we don’t necessarily align to that person’s views. But we can grow, we can become more compassionate, more empathic and that is something this world needs a lot more of.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely! I am my own best cheerleader. I learned a long time ago that if I did not root for myself or be “all in” on my hopes and dreams that no one else would. It simple….you create your own destiny….its not up to everyone else. People have opinions…..about your capabilities, your intentions, all of it. You have to block out the noise and make sure the story in your own mind and heart is one cultivated in your own believe system and most importantly comes from a deep place of personal desire and passion. Everything is fueled from that place!
