We recently had the chance to connect with LateNightCreator and have shared our conversation below.
LateNightCreator, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes! Just the other day I was sitting on the couch, and realized how much power is within writing down your goals. A few years when I stepped out on faith, I started to write down my goals and what I wanted. In 2022, I wrote down that I want to do solo art shows. in 2024 I got the idea of my first show, and here I am currently working on pieces that’ll be in the show. amen to that!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes! Hello, my name is LateNightCreator and I’m an acrylic painter based in Atlanta, Ga. I use the human’s form and experience with color to experiment and create symbolic and emotion evoking paintings. Awakening the soul to live to its fullest potential, and to not fade away due to life’s experiences is the main goal with my artwork. Focusing on topics that we tend to shy away, sweep under the rug, or what we once loved that we forget about. My work is influenced by my own life experiences, watching others and events around me. I’m a self taught artist, and has always been apart of the arts her whole life. I.e. playing an instrument, singing in the choir, and studying theatre/film. Painting all started from drawing as a little kid to escape from my reality, and transformed into a passion of painting that sometimes feels is beyond my understanding in the moment. With practice, patience, and dedication I’m called to create images that tell stories, draw people in, and to release what the soul seeks.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Ego and pride in my opinion. a person feeling the need to always be right, or a person who dislikes/lacks empathy and sympathy. what restores it is when we put ourselves in peoples shoes. understanding and listening to one another, instead of responding so quickly. we never know what a person is going through, or where what they’ve been through that shaped them to who they are now ( not giving certain actions an easy pass) but yea. giving grace is also good to restore as well. allowing time to pass to build back trust and respect.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
yes. It feels like there were plenty of times. the heaviest time was when I was a teenager. the life I had, I felt like there was no progression, or positive outcome. I felt like that was all that life had to offer. I didn’t understand why I was here. With my art, there were times in the past where dealing with social media and thinking that likes and views were so important; within a certain time frame if my art didn’t grow it would discourage me. also, having certain people around me projecting fears onto my life and careers put me in states of wanting to give up. them telling me that ill be a starving artist, or that I needed to do something that’ll make money.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I honestly don’t know how to be someone else, and I don’t feel whole or comfortable trying to be something/someone that I’m not. I’m very private to an extent but sometimes I feel like I share too much of my vulnerable side. All I know is to be me.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I did everything I said id do. That my art continues to inspire other artists and none artist to forever seek that inner them God has called them to be. That I’m a true artist, inside and out.
