Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Socorro Kenoly of Atlanta, Henry County

We recently had the chance to connect with Socorro Kenoly and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Socorro, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think people misunderstand the role my mission for sex education plays in my business. I feel that’ll be my most challenging play going forward in life. No matter what business services I am providing- my brand will forever be sex ed based!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Socorro Kenoly, otherwise known as The Sex Ed Fairy, Madame Fairy and now, @thesexedrealtor on Instagram. I was previously featured on Canvas Rebel because of my endeavors as a “sex edutainer”- a term I consider self-made. I am an entertainer with a sex education message. My cabaret- Madame Fairy’s Cabaret- brings sex education to the masses through multimedia and performing arts. I am happy to announce my official licensing in Georgia Real Estate. Now I am able to educate even more people through various outlets.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I am a social person. I have naturally just always been a social person. I learned a lot of hard lessons because of lack of boundaries. I started to blame myself and call my social tendencies a weakness. Now I see that being social is my strength. Building and maintaining a rapport with people is truly the key to success. How will you ever know what people need if you never talk to people? In order to solve a need, you have to know what’s needed. I mean truly feel others. I no longer believe my social tendencies are a weakness, I just know how to set boundaries. I know myself better. I know what I need to replenish my social battery. I pick and choose my battles and I make decisions that are best based on my previous patterns and discerning what’s presentally happening.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To never, and I mean NEVER let other people’s opinions of you shape your actions. Especially when those observers don’t have the results you’re looking for.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
My belief in my cabaret. It’s never going away. My belief in my sex education platform. It’s just natural. It’s naturally what I have to say and what I want to give to the world. It may take time. But it’s about the journey right? We did some great things this year! We even had at least $500 worth of donations for our first Hygiene Drive benefitting sex trafficking survivors with Wellspring Living- a local organization that supports and educates survivors like these.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I think that time is now. And I’m so grateful. I had it all before and lost it but I didn’t even know it at the time. IT feels great to be back. Real Estate is a tool everyone needs but may not know how to navigate. I’m happy to be able to help them. I’m also enjoying leasing. Shout-out to The Penman in Atlanta. I am helping people- meeting them where they’re at.
