Life and Work with Kendal Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendal Chandler.

Kendal, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Fashion blogs first started to really get a following when I was in high school and I LOVED the idea of them! From the moment that I followed my first one, I knew that when I had the time to invest in one, I wanted to start one as well because of my love for fashion. Before I started my blog, I knew that I wanted my design to look as professional as some of the biggest bloggers who had been blogging for years. I spent countless hours on my design until it was finally everything I had in mind. Plus, I wanted to be able to focus on my content output rather than the layout and visual appeal over time. Currently, my blog is slowly growing and I couldn’t be happier! It’s almost been a year and I’m pleased with all the growth and progress that it’s made!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Blogging is definitely not easy or anything that grows overnight. It’s really all that you put into it. I would strongly advise other young women who are wanting to start one to do it when they have a good amount of time to invest in it. It takes years for your blog to become anything with a volume of following so just focus on the slow growth that comes and stays consistent! I think consistency is the most important part of blogging. Post consistently and keep producing the same content that’s unique to you and your brand. No one wants to read a blog that’s just like the next persons.

Please tell us about Beverly Soho Blog.
What sets me apart from most bloggers is that my style is so different. I go from wearing a ruffled dress to boyfriend jeans and a biker jacket. I would describe my style as classy and edgy because it really just depends on the day, to be honest. My style is what is unique to me and a huge part of who I am and that’s what I’m most proud of and that it inspires others. When I get emails from other women that have read my posts, I am mind blown that one, people read my blog, but two, that I’ve inspired another individual through my style.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
Blogging opens up so many opportunities for women and I love it! You are able to connect and network with so many different kinds of people in so many different fields. There are so many opportunities in the fashion and PR industry because of blogging that many bloggers have taken advantage of. Also, it gives so many women a platform to voice their opinions and interests as well as what they’re passionate about and I think that’s the best part.
