Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Roberts.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
ABOUT THE BUSINESS/ORGANIZATION:

Our mission is to help families in Georgia and the surrounding states to have the necessary protection, such as life insurance, health insurance and retirement options that meet their personal needs. Our goal is to educate and assist our clients in making educated decisions based on life incidents that happen to everyone. Unforeseen events and a lack of the right type of insurance can spell trouble quickly. We want to limit the blow of such events by assisting with proper planning.

THE STORY:

Michelle A. Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia, is a fighter and a winner. She describes her impressive life change in this way: “After being married for 17 years, I finally awakened to the realization that my drug-addicted husband was not going to change. I had remained in the marriage—for too long—largely for two reasons. One, was because I thought no one would want a fat girl with three babies. The other, deeper reason was that I was not raised with my father and always longed for that relationship, so I clung to the hope that my husband would be the man who would fill that void. He did not. In fact, he put our children and me through the maddening frustrations and disappointments that come with sharing life with an addict. I became so depressed I began carrying 268 pounds on a five-foot frame. Finally, I took charge of my life. I had life-altering surgery, gastric bypass, and lost more than 110 pounds. I got a divorce, began a lifestyle of fitness, went back to school, and obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degrees and I am currently a Doctoral Candidate. I opened several businesses: Michelle A. Roberts Enterprises, Roberts Travel Services, and my latest business, Michelle A. Roberts Legacy Group, which is a Life and Health Insurance Company.
Michelle A. Roberts is a professional speaker & published author. She specializes in training and encouraging Women that they are over-comers, and can come back from any challenge.

Ms. Roberts is a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Airport Charter Chapter and the Atlanta Area Council of ABWA Ms. Roberts’ professional accomplishments are many, but nothing drives her more than her passion for God and His people. She works diligently to communicate that passion into the urban community.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS / ACCOLADES / AWARDS:

My proudest moment is being a mother of three young adults; two have graduated from college and one doing well in business. I have also been fortunate to lead my Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association to National Recognition as a level 2 Award-winning Chapter in my tenure as President 2016-2017

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In business, there will always be ups and downs but you have to have the tenacity and an attitude to win. Surround yourself with great mentors and others who are doing what you want to do or where you want to go in life. I suggest a business organization such as the American Business Womens Association because they strive to mentor , guide and encourage your growth and success. If you need a mentor to reach out to me, I am definitely a person who loves to give back and help you win

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I love Affirmations so I love affirmations for success. I listen to Podcasts from Sara Jakes Roberts, Les Brown, Eric Thomas and others. I read Black enterprise, John Maxwell, Business Journals and you tube for my industry.
