Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Johnson.
Hi Adam, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Adam Johnson an Asian American Animator based in ATL. I’m an Animator who has worked on 2 Animated Feature Films, a 2D Animated Series known as “Zach in Time” and recently I’ve been a Lead Animator for Urchins and Ink. Along with Volunteering with ASIFA-South and the Georgia Game Developer Association (GGDA)
I grew up in the Kennesaw area with a loving family who always pushed me to live life with kindness and to the best of my abilities. I graduated from Kennesaw State University for Digital Animation in the fall of 2022 and had wonderful professors give me so many opportunities at KSU. During my time there I was the President of the Animation Club and also had my Senior Animated film “The Owl” Premier at the KSU 2nd Annual Animation Film Festival.
My Animations have been a core part of my life and continue to aid me in various ways I’ve never thought possible. From Amassing over 72.2 Thousand Followers and over 2 Million likes on TikTok from my Animations and creativity, To allowing me to work on movies with A-List Actors and meeting so many brilliant minds who’ve worked on so many animated projects.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Animation can be a hard program in the field, there’s a low turnout for a reason due to the amount of people not attaining jobs in the field. For me to overcome that I volunteered and consistently worked on my craft in any situation. Sketching wherever I go, studying the media I consume. Having an understanding of how the Animation Industry works is so important to overcome any obstacles.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an Animator, I specialize in 2D VFX, and Character Animation, as well as Compositing. I’m known for my Vibrant action scenes and dramatic elemental animations. Along with my small-time creator Animation TikTok account @Adamient.
I’m most proud of the work for the studios I’ve worked for. The movies and animated series and video games I’ve worked on make me so proud to be in the industry.
That I can mentally multi-task many objectives. I can understand the project as a whole all while working on it. I’m able to hear the opinions of several leads and culminate it into one amazing animation.
Any big plans?
Right now I will soon be an Animator for a Studio in Atlanta, then after having more stability from that I plan to make my own Studio that creates vibrant Cooperative video games that have excellent animations to pair with. After that, I would love to open up a Video Game bar that has beta tests for my indie games I’m working on along with showcasing some of the amazing animations my team and I have worked on.
The biggest change would be where ever my next contract takes me, whether it be in here in GA/Atlanta area or out of the state of GA.
