Life & Work with Asia Royal of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Royal.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, my name is Asia Royal, and I own a cookie business called A Royal Cookie.
I began baking at the age of 12. My siblings and I were raised by our paternal grandparents in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Growing up, I wanted Jordans and my grandmother whom I call “Granny” would not buy them nor any other name brand shoes.
She told me I’d better start selling baked goods if I wanted them and handed me a stack of recipes. So, that’s exactly what I did. I sold cookies and brownies throughout middle and high school.
I knew I wanted to be a Police Officer since I was about 12, and after graduating college (Fall of 2020), I joined the Atlanta Police Department (Spring of 2021) with intentions on becoming chief and goals to implement changes that I wanted to see.
That dream was interrupted when God gave me a direct order in 2025 to resign. I wrestled with His leading, knowing it would require a level of faith I thought I wasn’t quite ready for. However, I moved, despite not understanding what was truly next. Initially, I dreaded it, but after being obedient, there hasn’t been one day that I’ve looked back.
When I was told to leave, I knew exactly what to do, although I didn’t know how I’d succeed doing it. I just knew God was backing me. He’d given me revelation while in college about what to offer. He’d even revealed what my logo and business name should be then.
Knowing how I hustled in my teenage years, I laughed when I asked God what I should do in college and He had answered “bake”. I questioned who in the world I’d sell cookies to and was told to offer options for those with dietary restrictions.
What started as a dedicated commitment developed into love, passion, and stewardship. Baking cookies became my therapy after being on the streets. It became my safe space after long shifts on patrol or on my feet. A month before being told to leave the department, I stood in my kitchen as I baked and prepared for duty and said “God, I just want to wake up and bake.” Unbeknownst to me, He’d tell me to do the very thing I desired, except when I imagined it, it was with a partner. I’ve learned that this journey was the evidence of faith and trust that He needed to see in me, that I needed for myself, and that which others may also need. As difficult as it’s been, I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
Today, A Royal Cookie seeks to satisfy every cookie craving regardless of diet, restriction, or diagnosis.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road. It has been extremely difficult because of the lack of understanding, support, and companionship/assistance. I didn’t have a guide. I had faith. I didn’t have mentors, teachers, or advisors; I had God. I had to do what others won’t so that many can. I look at it as the turning point for my generation.
The main struggle has been to remain faithful when I’ve wanted to give up, and being obedient while not understanding.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in creating gourmet cookies from scratch. As mentioned previously, I seek to satisfy cookie cravings regardless of diet, restriction, or diagnosis. As I am still building, I offer vegan, protein, and gluten free options at this time.
Many have requested sugar free options and I am currently experimenting recipes that do not contain any processed sugars, artificial flavorings, or sweeteners.
Seeking to offer more cookies that are consumable to anyone desiring them is what sets me apart. I also know that my “why” and my passion sets me apart. My cookies have been known to taste like the love poured into them. I believe that when purpose drives, quality isn’t compromised; however when profit drives, quality is compromised and purpose is diminished.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love how diversified Atlanta is. I dislike the crime.
