Today we’d like to introduce you to Biamyl Diaz.
Hi Biamyl, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey to opening Coco & Jax Indoor Playground wasn’t something I had planned years in advance—it was something that grew out of prayer, faith, and a desire to create something meaningful for families.
Before becoming a business owner, I spent years working in corporate environments while also serving as a preschool teacher. Through those experiences, I developed a deep appreciation for both children and the importance of community. As a mother myself, I often found myself searching for safe, engaging spaces where young children could play, learn, and use their imaginations while parents felt welcomed and supported.
The idea for Coco & Jax came from seeing a need in our community for a thoughtfully designed indoor play space specifically for younger children. I wanted to create more than just a playground—I wanted to create a place where families could gather, children could engage in imaginative play, and parents could connect with one another.
The road to opening was filled with challenges, long hours, and plenty of uncertainty, but it was also filled with incredible support from my family, friends, and community. Throughout the process, my faith played a huge role in helping me stay focused and obedient to what I felt God was calling me to do.
Today, Coco & Jax Indoor Playground is the realization of that vision. It’s a space built with intention, love, and a genuine desire to serve families. We are still growing and learning every day, but seeing children light up when they walk through our doors and hearing parents tell us how much they appreciate the environment we’ve created makes every challenge worth it.
Opening Coco & Jax has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I’m excited to continue building something that positively impacts families in Monroe and the surrounding communities.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs pursuing something they truly believe in.
Opening Coco & Jax came with many challenges that people often don’t see behind the scenes. There were countless hours spent planning, budgeting, renovating, navigating permits, making difficult decisions, and learning things I had never done before. There were moments of uncertainty where I questioned whether everything would come together the way I envisioned.
One of the biggest challenges was balancing my roles as a business owner, wife, mother, and community member while trying to build something from the ground up. There were many late nights, early mornings, and sacrifices made by my entire family. They have been my biggest supporters throughout this journey.
Like any new business, we’ve also faced the ups and downs that come with opening our doors to the public. We’ve celebrated incredible milestones, received amazing support from families, and heard wonderful feedback from customers. At the same time, we’ve had to learn how to navigate criticism, unexpected obstacles, and the reality that not everyone will understand your vision right away.
What has carried me through those moments has been my faith. There were many times when I had to trust God even when I couldn’t see the full picture. Looking back, I can honestly say that every challenge has helped shape not only the business but also me as a person and leader.
While the road hasn’t been easy, it has absolutely been worth it. Seeing children laugh, play, and use their imaginations in a space we created, and watching families make memories together, reminds me every day why we started Coco & Jax in the first place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the founder and owner of Coco & Jax Indoor Playground, a boutique indoor play space designed specifically for children ages 6 and under. While on the surface we provide a place for children to play, our mission goes much deeper than that. We have intentionally created an environment where imagination, creativity, and meaningful play are encouraged, while parents and caregivers feel welcomed, supported, and connected.
What we specialize in is creating a safe, clean, and thoughtfully designed experience for young children. Every detail of our space was chosen with intention—from our imaginative playhouses and toddler-friendly play areas to the calm and inviting atmosphere that allows children to explore without becoming overstimulated.
I believe what we’re becoming known for is the sense of community families feel when they walk through our doors. Many parents tell us that Coco & Jax feels different from larger entertainment venues. It feels personal. It feels welcoming. It feels like a place where families belong. That is one of the greatest compliments we can receive.
What I am most proud of is that Coco & Jax was built from a genuine desire to serve families and create something meaningful for our community. This business was never simply about opening a playground. It was about creating a space where children can learn through play, where parents can build friendships, and where families can make memories together.
I believe what sets us apart is our intentionality. We are not trying to be the biggest or the loudest. We focus on creating quality experiences, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and building authentic relationships with the families we serve. We care deeply about every child who walks through our doors and every parent who chooses to spend their time with us.
As a faith-driven business owner, I also strive to lead with kindness, integrity, and purpose. My goal is for every family who visits Coco & Jax to leave feeling valued, encouraged, and excited to come back. If we can create a place where children feel free to imagine and play while parents feel seen and supported, then I consider that a success.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned throughout this journey is that success isn’t built overnight, and it isn’t measured solely by numbers. It’s built through consistency, perseverance, faith, and a willingness to keep moving forward even when the outcome isn’t clear.
As an entrepreneur, there are moments when things don’t go according to plan. There are challenges, setbacks, and days when you question whether you’re making the right decisions. I’ve learned that growth often happens in those difficult moments. Some of my greatest lessons have come from obstacles that forced me to adapt, learn, and trust the process.
I’ve also learned the importance of staying true to your vision. It can be easy to compare yourself to others or feel pressure to do what everyone else is doing, but I’ve found that the most meaningful progress happens when you remain focused on the purpose behind why you started. For me, that purpose has always been creating a space where families feel welcomed, children can thrive through play, and community can grow.
Perhaps the biggest lesson of all has been learning to trust God throughout the process. There were many moments when I didn’t have all the answers, but each step of faith led to another opportunity, another connection, or another reminder that I was exactly where I needed to be. Looking back, I can see how every challenge, every victory, and every unexpected turn helped shape not only Coco & Jax but also who I am as a business owner and person.
If there’s one thing I would share with anyone pursuing a dream, it’s this: don’t be afraid to start before everything feels perfect. Be willing to learn, stay faithful to your purpose, and trust that growth comes one step at a time.
