Today we’d like to introduce you to Chianne Michaels.
Hi Chianne, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up my father was a huge wrestling fan and that was something he passed down to me. When I was 6 or so my father opened a tattoo shop in Calhoun, Ga, called Immortal Tattoos and he would tattoos on some of the small independent wrestlers. When I turned 9 years old my father took me to my first wrestling show In Rome, Ga, run by a guy named Dylan Frymyer. Dylan quickly became a close family friend and eventually moved onto running a bigger show in Canton, Ga. This show in canton was called Southern Honor Wrestling. Me and my father attended Southern Honor Wrestling (SHW) every month we possibly could and eventually it gave my father an idea to run his own wrestling show for Immortals Tattoos 10 year anniversary. When my dad came up with the anniversary wrestling show I told him I would ring announce it so we wouldn’t have to try and find someone to do so. It just so happened that a guy from NAWA ring champions came up to me after the show ended and asked me to become her their new ring announcer. I immediately agreed and that started my career at 16 years old. It was a small run down building in Dalton, Ga that I ring announced in for 6 or so months before eventually we were forced to relocate. After the relocation we needed up in Rome, Ga where I ring announced for 2 more months before moving on to a new promotion in Forsyth, Ga, called Wrestlemerica. At Wrestlemerica I met my loving boyfriend who happens to be a wrestler named Hunter James. Hunter and his dog CC became my main focus while backstage of a Wrestlemerica show and that led us to get to talking a lot more. Hunter started helping me backstage and encouraging me to try new things to better myself and my ring announcing talents. Hunter works for several promotions around the state of Georgia as an independent wrestler and travels hundreds of miles every weekend. Because of the good work and improvement I was doing between Wrestlemerica and SHW and with the help of Hunter telling people in charge of other shows how talented I am, I started going all over the state of Georgia.
Eventually at Wrestlemerica I started having problems with a female wrestler named Hyena Hera and a few months into the ordeal it ended up in a tag team wrestling match between myself and my boyfriend Hunter James as my tag team partner against Hyena Hera and Bryce Cannon. The night ended with me and Hunter winning the match and celebrating. That was very special moment to me and definitely brought me and Hunter closer together.
Since then I have not been in another wrestling match nor do I intend to but I did become a Valet for Hunter James at a promotion in Royston, Ga, called Squared Circle Action (SCA). At SCA me and Hunter walk to the ring together and I stay ringside while he preforms in ring as a wrestler. It’s reminiscent to the late Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth.
I am truly blessed to have accomplished so many things in my career at just 19 years old. I couldn’t have done any of this without my amazing and encouraging boyfriend Hunter and the support from all of my family and friends. I pray I go far with my career and am always excited to see where the days take me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been an easy road for me. When I first started out I struggled to find my rhythm and place in the wrestling business. At the Age of 16 when I first started ring announcing I was convinced I wanted to be a wrestler. I struggled finding someone to train me to be a wrestler and on top of that I struggled to find someone to help me become a better ring announcer. Eventually I found someone to start training me to be a wrestler and I trained for 3 hours before calling it quits. I decided in those 3 hours I would stay a ring announcer and then I became determined to find someone to help me better my ring announcing career. At Southern Honor Wrestling I met the lovely Diana Michel and tho people think I am her daughter (I am not) but it always gives us a good laugh. Diana helped me in my early days with how to style my clothes and she helped me set goals for what my voice should sound like while announcing. Along the way me and Diana became very close and we help each other get bookings at some promotions. However it wasn’t until I started dating my boyfriend Hunter James that I started to truly get a ton of more bookings all over the state of Georgia. Hunter truly helped me get in contact with several people that wanted to help me get better as a ring announcer and see me go far with my career. With the help of Hunter I went from having 1 show a month to having a show every Friday, Saturday, and occasionally Sundays as well.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am most commonly known for my ring announcing in independent pro wrestling. I give each show and each one of the boys and girls in the locker room my full attention while gathering info and learning a little bit about them in order to make them seem like the most larger than life characters. I am most proud of the night I got to cohost Souther Honor Wrestling’s 2025 RumbleJack alongside Diana Michel. During this night I was able to announce several Stars such as Billy Gunn, and Jay Lethal. It helped shape the goal for me and my career. I think the thing that sets me apart from other ring announcers, especially in the state of Georgia is I am a female. There are not many female ring announcers in the state, so being one of the few is truly an honor. Another thing that sets me apart from other ring announcers is the style in which I announce. My boyfriend Hunter James has recently pointed out to me that when announcing I always emphasize on the most chant-able part of the wrestlers name, wether that is their first/last name or their “nickname” I always make sure I say it in the most clear and direct way possible in order for the fans to digest and remember while watching the match/show.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was a very shy kid. I never truly talked to anyone unless they talked to me first, I never went out of my way to share my interests in wrestling because it’s “uncool” for a girl to like wrestling. It wasn’t until my junior year of high school, around the age of 17, when I started opening up about my interests in wrestling and my ring announcing career. Once people in school started finding out about my “weekend life” they had tons of questions. Wrestling didn’t quite make me popular but wrestling did give me the comfort in myself to be confident and my full self. When my senior year started, anyone who knew me knew I was a ring announcer and that I take my job very seriously.
