Today we’d like to introduce you to Heir.
Hi Heir, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came into 2023 feeling like something was missing. At first, I thought I’d start a brand, maybe clothing or jewelry, but everything shifted on a flight to Paris when I watched the Donna Summer documentary. Around the same time, Beyoncé’s Renaissance was out, and something about that moment just clicked. By the time I landed, I told my friends I wanted to make music, even though I had never sung before.
I started experimenting while I was in Paris, then went back to New York and tried working with a songwriter, but it didn’t feel authentic. So I scrapped everything and started writing on my own. After a lot of trial and error, recording songs I didn’t like and reaching out to producers, one person finally responded, and he’s still who I work with today.
About six months later, I released my first song, then another a month after that, and eventually my first project. Since then, I’ve just kept going.
At its core, Air Heir is about self discovery. Music changed how I see myself and the world around me. It started as a leap of faith, but it became something much deeper. If it can inspire even one person, that’s everything to me.
If you want this to feel even more high fashion or editorial depending on the magazine, I can sharpen the tone further.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth. Music is expensive, especially as an independent artist. You have all these ideas and visions, and then you realize everything requires more money to execute them the way you hear them in your head. Working with producers, recording, everything adds up quickly. You really have to invest in yourself and believe in what you’re building, even when there’s no guarantee it will pay off right away.
Beyond that, there’s definitely been moments of doubt. When a song doesn’t move the way you hoped or a project doesn’t take off instantly, it can make you question everything. But I’ve had to remind myself that this is a long game. I can’t let one release define me or stop my momentum.
For me, it’s about staying committed to the vision, continuing to grow, and trusting that everything I’m building will land the way it’s supposed to over time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music artist at my core. I write, I sing, and I collaborate closely with my producer to bring ideas to life. What I really specialize in is my perspective and my tone. That’s something I’ve seen evolve a lot as I’ve grown, not just as an artist but as a person. I’m very open to change and newness, and I let inspiration come from anywhere, whether that’s music, energy, or even something as simple as the way waves move. I try to stay in tune with that and create from a place that feels honest.
What I’m most proud of is my first EP, Sculpture and Sculptor. The visual world around it felt just as important as the music, and the team I worked with brought that vision to life in a really powerful way. It showed me how important collaboration is and how much stronger the work becomes when everyone is aligned creatively.
I’m also proud that I’ve stayed consistent. This path isn’t easy, but I’ve kept creating, kept pushing, and kept believing in what I’m building. I think that commitment and willingness to evolve is what really sets me apart.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you have to show up for yourself, no matter what. The moon shines every night whether anyone is watching it or not, and I’ve had to adopt that same mindset.
There are moments where you want external validation or for things to move faster, but this path has taught me discipline and belief. If I want this to grow, if I want to build something that can truly change my life and support my family, I have to be the one to push it forward.
It’s really about trusting the process, trusting the timing, and continuing to move even when it feels quiet.
