Life & Work with India Tate of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to India Tate.

Hi India, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back in 2021, my family lived in the Bay Area. During the pandemic, the only thing we could really do was get outdoors and being a mom of two super young kids, that was actually very beneficial. I used nature and the outdoors as a way to heal during those early years of motherhood. Exploring more of our area, turned into taking road trips solo hours away to new areas in California. Eventually, I started sharing our adventures online and teaching myself how to use a camera, just for fun. I always loved photography, but it was something I forgot I loved as I got older. Content Creation and photography was never part of the plan, but I was able to turn it into my full time job when I returned to Georgia in 2022 as a newly single parent.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Entrepreneurship is not a smooth road in general. There have definitely been some struggles along the way maneuvering solo parenting, homeschooling and running my own business. Even today it isn’t the easiest road, but I have learned along the way what works for me and what doesn’t. Where and when to ask for help, because no one can do it alone (parenting or running a business).

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a travel photographer and solo mom outdoor content creator. As a solo mom and outdoor content creator, I specialize in creating authentic, family-friendly travel content that empowers parents, especially solo moms, to confidently explore the outdoors with their kids. As a solo parent, I offer a unique and underrepresented perspective in the outdoor space, which I think is so important to highlight and shed light on so that others don’t feel like they’re alone or are incapable of getting out there solo. As a content creator, I work with brands and tourism boards to highlight their unique products and destinations by producing engaging outdoor, family and lifestyle content. I love being able to give my kids experiences I never had as a kid, while also showing other moms whats possible, no matter how old your kids are.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I don’t have much memory of my childhood. However, in my later childhood I remember going on my first cruise. We went to the Bahamas and I think it was my first time leaving the U.S. and the country was so beautiful. When I got to college, I knew I wanted to go back and experience it in a different way.
