Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerris Mcbride.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Jerris McBride, a traveling photographer who specializes in portraits and weddings. I first picked up a camera in 2017, and what started as curiosity quickly became my passion and purpose.
A little backstory about me and how I became a photographer. I truly believe God gives each of us a gift and a purpose in life. Growing up, sports were everything to me. I played sports my whole life, and I was dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking. It was all I knew. But even while I was focused on athletics, I always found myself drawn to art and cameras in a way I couldn’t really explain.
When my football career ended in college, I found myself lost for a while. For the first time in my life, I didn’t have a purpose to chase or a goal to work toward. I knew that simply working a job wasn’t enough for me. I wanted something that challenged me, inspired me, and gave me something to build.
That’s when I went all in on photography.
Year after year, I invested in myself, studied the craft, learned from my mistakes, and worked to get better. I treated photography the same way I treated sports—with commitment, consistency, and a willingness to outwork the person next to me.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to capture so many incredible people and unforgettable moments. Photography has taken me to places I never imagined I’d see and allowed me to meet people from all walks of life. For that, I’m forever thankful to God.
This journey hasn’t been easy, but honestly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Every challenge, setback, and lesson has helped shape me into the photographer and person I am today.
As a photographer, I’m still striving to get better every single day—not for myself, but for the people who trust me to capture their memories. My goal is to create timeless images that tell real stories and preserve moments that will be remembered for generations.
Lastly, for anyone reading this, I just want to say: keep going. Life isn’t always easy, and there will be times when you feel lost or uncertain. Have grit, stay faithful, keep working, and never stop believing in yourself. Most importantly, keep God first, trust His plan, and keep moving forward. Your purpose is worth chasing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely been rocky at times. Some of the biggest struggles I faced were learning my camera and editing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer who specializes in both flash and natural lighting.I’m known most for my wedding photography, over the years. i’ve grown more in the wedding industry.
One thing I’m most proud of is having the mindset to continuously learn and grow in photography. I never want to stop improving my craft.
What truly sets me apart is my eye for photography. I have a natural ability to see and understand light, and that’s something I’ve continued to develop over the years.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Yes, I do have a goal that I’m chasing. I’m slowly transitioning into becoming a luxury wedding photographer and focusing exclusively on weddings.
