Life & Work with Kailyn Nino of Midtown ATL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kailyn Nino

Hi Kailyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My boyfriend and I moved from Raleigh, NC to Atlanta, GA about a year and a half ago for his career. At the same time, I was also moving from a social media coordinator role to a sales role. I had always loved social media, but in all my prior experience, it was helping other brands build their own social media – never my own. When we moved to Atlanta, GA and knew no one – I made it a goal to get really acquainted with the area. Luke and I went on several dinner and coffee dates, and explored neighboring towns. We lived in Virginia Highland at the time, which is a super walkable town and close to the beltline – we quickly fell in love with Atlanta and all it had to offer. One night at dinner I decided to take a few clips and put them together in TikTok. I had never really used the App, but it was so much fun to play around with. I started a series called “Hidden Gems in Atlanta” where I would visit different restaurants and local businesses in the area, that I didn’t know about (mainly because I wasn’t from Atlanta) that I thought other people should know about! After posting multiple videos in the series, people started to follow along and I gained a small community! Now it’s turned into lifestyle and fashion content as well, I really just enjoy sharing every aspect of my life!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wouldn’t say it’s not been smooth – there have definitely been challenges in terms of growing my audience! I’m still in the growing phase, and considered a micro influencer, I’m so thankful for the community I’ve built in Atlanta but it has been challenging to grow my audience and community beyond that! Being consistent has helped!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work a remote sales role at a Consulting company! I love the flexibility of working from home and that the nature of sales in entrepreneurial – it allows me to challenge myself and grow my confidence. Really proud to say that I am a top performer on my team, and ultimately it’s able to help fuel the other passions I have in my personal life!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Being a risk taker is so important! Even our move to Atlanta, GA was a bit of a risk – although we had the secureness of a job; we had only visited once before moving, so we weren’t exactly sure how we were going to like the area. Risk taking is definitely at the center of growing and challenging yourself. Thoughtful risk taking can elevate your life truly!
