Life & Work with Kanesha Carter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kanesha Carter.

Kanesha Carter

Hi Kanesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started writing music at about 12 or 13 and didn’t start actually recording until like 17. Writing has always been very important to me. I wrote short stories as a kid, then wrote lyrics and poems as a teen, and then as a young adult, I grew and was able to write and record my own music. The journey was tough; it was not easy at all, but definitely well worth it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey was rough, real rough. I literally didn’t have no support system when it comes to making music. Some people have their family and friends. I had no one, and it doesn’t make me sad, but I think it makes my story more interesting and beautiful just to show people that I had no support system and was able to accomplish so much just by pushing myself and believing in my craft. I’ve met people that helped me out tremendously throughout the years, and it’s truly a blessing to see what you can do if you NEVER GIVE UP.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I write and create music. Songwriting is something I always want to make known. That is a huge job, and I think a lot of artists don’t give themselves enough credit in writing music. By me first starting out writing in general, it allows me to stand out from many other artist. One thing I love to do when making music is challenging myself, challenging my writing skills, my creativity just my mind in general.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My childhood memory is just having fun and enjoying being a kid. I had the best birthdays my mom was amazing. She allowed me to experience being a kid, and that means the world to me.
