Life & Work with KMakesBeats

Today we’d like to introduce you to KMakesBeats.

Hi KMakesBeats, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I got my start in production in 2011. I began producing music as K. Tha Producer alongside my sister who was only 13 at the time as a production team known as Splitting Image Productions. We produced music for our sister who was 15 at the time and wanted to become a singer. We created a name for ourselves locally dropping music weekly and building a small fanbase.

After going our separate ways in 2013, I began producing music on my own working with independent artists in my hometown of Peoria, Illinois. I saw more success when I decided to work with independent artists nationally and globally. Within the past 13 years, I have worked with thousands of independent artists all over the United States, Canada, Africa, and the UK produce their best singles, albums, and projects. I have amassed a following on social media through content creation, beat videos, and motivational videos to keep artists focused on their music.

I have much more planned to grow my career. I’m just getting started!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has everything BUT smooth! Lol. I have faced many obstacles. Not having enough resources, lack of money, motivation, feeling like giving up, distractions, heartbreak, depression etc. Despite all of this, I never give up. I refuse to give up. I keep going even when the road is bumpy and no destination in sight because I know music is what I am destined to do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I produce rap music, specifically dark trap & melodic beats. I specialize in these two pockets of sound because they are where my production style shines the most. I am known for my beats, but also being very motivational. I drop motivational content for artists across my social media because having great beats to write and rap to is just 50% of what an artist needs. The other 50% comes from being motivated to actually write a song, hook, make a video, put out music consistently.

Artist need this constant push, so I allow my content to be that reminder.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck is created by you. Believing in yourself to the highest level. Staying consistent and being able to act on opportunities as they arise. Staying as ready as you possibly can. Your dreams can happen at any moment!
